can you imagine what would happen to the property values in the vicinity of the brothels?

while many think that prostitution should be legal, how many really want the brothel next door to where we raise our kids?

Everyone knows babies don't belong next to baby factories.

i dont know. i dont have kids.

i do know that legalizing it is going to require some massive restrictions and demands. i mean it can't just be "its legal" and boom all is right as rain. its going to require soo much legislation.

but then again...

somewhere in nevada... there are hookers filing taxes.

huh

it's been proven that society is degraded by it

My master's degress will be in criminology. I graduate in the fall!! Yeaaaa! Criminal and Constitutional law classes are pivotal within my studies.

I just had a debate in my Constitutional Law class regarding this same issue. I had to defend prostitution.

If prostitution is not regulated -- girls working outside of the law -- then it can degrade society.

- Girls are less likely to report rape
- Less likely to report human trafficking or under-age girls
- Less likely to escape a pimp
- More prone to work on the streets rather than a hotel
There are other examples ....

By decriminalizing it (at the very least), the girls would have more confidence in reporting crimes against their person. Decrim is still illegal but society would put less emphasis on going after the offenders unless there are ehanced or life threatenting circumstances. Girls could work in a hotel more easily without the staff kicking them out, and law enforcement would not spend thousands and thousands of dollars for sting operations in netting MISDEMEANOR offenses.

Law enforcement would then be free to pursue felony issues with pimping/pandering, trafficking, and under-age/run girls.

By legalizing prostitution, the girls would have to get standardized health screening just like porn stars. If porn stars don't pass, they lose their 'safe' card and are ineligible to work. In terms of prostitution, they would have to abide by the same health screenings and mandates.

Also, legalized activity would require the girl to pay taxes. Having an escort license is legal, and can be claimed already. Girls can legally be paid for companionship. If they operate within the law, they can pay taxes, qualify to buy a home, get credit, etc, and have trackable, legal income.

These are just some of the arguments I pitted again my debate opponent. Honestly, by the time I finished with this project, I was surprised at how my attitude changed on this issue. I would support moving toward decrimalizing or legalizing.

You guys say it like it is a bad thing...

I GUARANTEE that it is far more cost efficient to bag a random piece of flesh for a few hours or a couple of days and then be on your way, than it is to court a woman of goals and values.

Every last one of my family and friends are still paying for thier piece of @ss to this day.

If ya gotta feel indignant..go ahead...but, it is a 100% accurate statement.

also police would have to find something better to do than set up a sting operation to arrest and fill up the jails with men who are horny

Prostitution nowadays is just a job for many...You go to work, you make money, you pay your bills, you live...It has been around since biblical days and survived...

I could never ever live that kind of life, and I don't judge those that do it for a living..It isn't my place to tell them how they should live...

I have no objections to prostitution as a viable alternative for any woman that wants to do that. However the reality is that there is a huge percentage of women now in this business against their will. For anyone who doesn't know about the sex slave trade issue in the world right now, it would be worth finding out about. Just to know the facts.
