Sorry to hear that Whisper, dang girl. Wish I had some help for you.
Hope they gave you something for the pain and inflammation. |

They gave me a needle for the pain and a pill for the inflimation all
that did was make it tollerable to get home, they gave me a prescription as well, but I can not get that until tomorrow, then they told me that there was nothing they could do for me and that I needed to go see my family doctor GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR |

Whisper-I have a crushed disc in my lower back that I have been living
with for years. After I had a hip replacement three years ago-it went nuts on me. Total spasms that lasted for days on end. Finally went to PT and learned the exercises I needed to strengthen my abdominal muscles to take the pressure off that portion of my back. Haven't had a spasm for over two years now. Seriously-when this episode subsides get to a physical therapist and follow the exercise program. You will get over these spasms and know how to avoid them. |

Thank you Nus, my doctor has called the local hospital and I am waiting
for a call for a cat scan, nothing can be done until that. |

I know whisper-and the pain and immobility you are experiencing right
now sucks. Don't cough, don't bend over-hell-don't move. Been there and I feel for you 100%. Don't let them string you out on cortizone-it is a hormone that should be used sparingly for acute attacks such as you are having. Muscle relaxants do nothing to your muscles-they are central nervous system depressants and very habit forming. Short of surgery (which you don't want)PT is the answer. And, believe it or not-acupuncture. I really hope your pain subsides soon. |

Do you know of any back exersizes that I can do now for the time being?
Lie flat on your stomach on a hard surface-the floor-then do a girly
push-up but go slow and only arcg from your lower back. Push up with your arms and leave your legs flat-just lift your upper body. Go as far up as you can and hold that posotion for 30-60 seconds then go back down. SLOWLY! As you arch that part of your back-you should feel some of the pressure being released. GO SLOW! |
Thank you, I will try it before I go to bed tonight.
Yes-make it the last thing you do before bed and I hope it helps. Hang
in there, whisper. When this goes away you will be able to train your muscles to avoid these spasms. I hope you sleep well tonight. |

what part of your back is the pain in? which disc? if it's a lower
one...try lying flat on your back with your knees bent and your feet close to your buttocks. place a pillow across your knees, and with the palms of your hands...push the pillow, putting pressure on your thighs. this stretches the vertebrae...and may relieve some of the pain in your back. |

Thank you everybody for your help. I am off to bed now.
