Look, to me weed isn't to bad. I do not smoke or do any drugs myself, but I have a lot of really great friends, that are very successful that do. This is just another form of people being brainwashed into believeing certain things. It was legal and is legal in certain states. So please do not compare it to things like crack and meth. NOT in the same category. It isn't the devil, alcohol is a lot more toxic.
it is legal with a perscription.. not completely legal.. just thought id make that distinction.

It doesn't matter. My point was that it isn't THAT damn bad. Like I said, alcohol is very DEADLY. Weed is NOT. I have had more friends die in alcohol related deaths. None involving weed. *shrugs*

I disagree. To me it is that bad. I've witnessed first hand the effects it has had on my entire family while growing up.

And regardless if people are for it or against it, just like all the rest that were mentioned, it's an illegal drug. You will get arrested for having it, distributing it, or even being under the influence of it. Why on earth would someone want to take the risk of losing everything they've worked for, just for something like that?

For some of us, it is. For myself, I would have to say that it's a tossup between women and marijuana as to what lowers my IQ the most. In the fields of interest I'm involved in, I've never found it an attractive substance to ingest, simply because it makes me stupid. I found it easier to give up marijuana than women and that I think better without Marijuana. Of course each person has their own choice to make in this area. As a matter of fact, many of my girlfriends smoked it, and for some it was a problem and for others it wasn't. In all cases, it wasn't a problem for me, either because they had stopped because they knew it was a problem for them, or their use wasn't excessive.

The OP, however, is likely a different story. By his own admission, he has relapsed on alcohol as well, and pretty much crossed the line away from sobriety. By his own admission, he's no longer sober, and hopefully will be able to get humble about it so he can deal with it and mitigate his suffering. Then again, it may have been a break, because it really doesn't seem like all too smart of recovery if you ask me.

i know way too many strong successful people who smoke the ganja (lol thats dedicated to you-know-who).

AS AN ADULT! i have come to the conclusion that just because i dont do it.. doesn't mean its evil.

i knew a guy who beat the crap out of his wife and put her in the hospital while drunk....

so yeah... just sayin..

its a perspective thing. some people will always think its the root of all evil (and will say that while smokin a cig or drinkin a long island) while other will say its okay in moderation (god control yourself.. geez.) and some would say its the best stuff on earth. in which i say good luck man.

mary jane... she'll always be a hard debated topic.
and a guy *a "mild manared gentleman who was an over achiever at all things* beat and raped my best friend.. the only drug in his system.. thc.. when he got released from his rehab.. he got stoned... found her.. and did it to her again.

food for thought

Ironicly, federal and state laws are not in agreement. The feds will bust you, with or without a prescription. I have to say though that the legality is not what I see as an issue so much as what it does to the person. Alcohol is perfectly legal, and while no law prevents me from drinking, common sense intervenes, reminding me of how this computer nerd once wrestled with 4 police officers in an alcohol induced mania. That wasn't my only clue, but it was representative of the insanity that comes with the first minimal dose of anything for me that manipulates my dopamine receptors.

Talk about getting your panties all twisted, guys. Way to go! Sheesh. Self-righteous indignation is not attractive. I hate people that are so quick to judge. So it's not your cup of tea, fine. Keep the lectures, generalizations and insults to yourselves. Plenty of other vapid and fluffy threads to post in.

I'm sorry about your friend, but I'm pretty sure there was something wrong with him with or without THC.

perhaps. but he was and honor roll college student. well on his way to becoming a professor of psychology. he had never had so much as a speeding ticket prior to this act. he was an "average normal guy" who got stoned, raped and beat my friend, went to rehab, by the time he got out of rehab he had in his head that he would be ok. got stoned again and did it again. she commited suacide just before the second trial. and ALL blood screens showed an absence of ANY drug or alcohol except THC.
wether there was something wrong with the guy or not is left to be seen, the thing is. aside from when he was stoned, he was a "perfect" guy.

Different people have different brain chemisty, and there is no black and white rule for each of us. You may or may not have noticed that I have not criticized your use of the drug in any way. The main reason, simply put, is that you haven't expressed in any way that it has caused a problem for you. I have, however, met people who become complete buffoons after eating chocolate, of all things. And time after time, they continue to eat chocolate, and time after time, it gets them in trouble. I sh!t you not.

That is really a one in a million type of situation, izzie. I find it hard to believe that THC caused this guy to become a rapist, but maybe it just didn't agree with him. For the majority of people marijuana is a harmless recreational drug. I've never met an angry stoner. He must have had some sort of chemical imbalance or a split personality. Most psychopaths appear to be quite charming and intelligent. Look at Ted Bundy! He was good looking, educated, seemingly caring and he raped and murdered women in several states.

I'm sorry but I don't think it is a one in a million situation. It has happened to me too and another woman on this site, too.
