Topic: THE DOCTOR | |

OK I MAY BE THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS THIS WAY, BUT I LOVE IT WHEN I TAKE
MY KIDS IN TO THE DOCTOR AND THEY GIVE THEM A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH, AND THEY SAY THINGS LIKE.."IS ADVANCED FOR THEIR AGE AT DOING..." OR "IS LARGE FOR THEIR AGE, BUT HEIGHT AND WEIGHT ARE PROPORTIONATE, SO IM NOT WORRIED AT ALL" ADNY THEY BASICKLY SAY THAT YOU ARE DOING A GOOD JOB, AND HAVENT SCREWED UP YOUR CHILD YET.. MAYBE ITS JUST ME, BUT I DO ENJOY IT WHEN I HEAR THAT MY KIDS ARE DOING WELL, AND WILL BE FINE.... AND THAT IM DOING FINE AS A PARENT.. ESPECIALY AS A SINGLE PARENT... OF 4 KIDS.. AND THEY ALL GET A GOOD CHECKUP.. |

oooh dont get me into it about my fam doc, lol
he and I just got into it the other week cause I did not schedule my son for a speach test, and he threatened to call the state. First off, my son does not have a speach problem. He has adhd and tends to talk in a mumble and babyish (he is four). Secondly my doc knows this and is trying to start the diagnostic processs over for the adhd needless ot say I am very happy that it is time or me to decide if I want a new doc (Ima on medicaid so can only change once a year without cause). |

I imagine it would feel like a pat on the back, but if they did get sick
i would hope you wouldn't blame it all on yourself though :( |

why do you need someone to tell you your being a good parent?

it's...a periodic validation that things are going well.
i see the doctors a bit too often, lol...but it's nice to have back-up, which they readily give. i had applied for WIC with raegan, before...and the office tried to tell me she was underweight and that i had to take a series of nutrition courses before i could receive the benefits...(my daughter is hypotonic, she has low muscle tone). the docs backed me up, saying that she was NOT underweight for her condition...that she was stable and that her height/weight ratio was just fine, as it stayed the same as she grew. was nice, after the health department had tried to make it out that she wasn't being fed properly and such. |

so i guess its a reassurance for some? hmmmmmmmm . For me, i dont need
anyone to tell me that i am looking after my kids well. i think its my obligation as their dad. But then again i guess i can understand how it would be nice to hear it from others. With myself, i do not feel that it is all that important or relevant. But hey that is just me. |

with my first, i was very young...was nice to hear that she was
progressing ahead of schedule. after that, it all was old hat to me. until my last two. they aren't exactly "normal", so dealing with them falls into a different realm...i had to learn quite a bit to be able to take proper care of them...and it's often backwards to what is conventional. |

To date my daughter has never had a cavity and I take full credit for

That would be a blessing to hear, congrats!
My son doesn't have a clean bill of health and many doctor's appointments end with me crying in some bathroom in the clinic. |
