IS THERE BECAUSE YOUR JOB DESCRIBE YOU BETTER THEN YOU WILL DO IT OR BECAUSE THE PERSON NEED TO APPROXIMATE WHAT IS YOUR INCOME ?
I MEAN TODAY YOU CAN HAVE A JOB AND MAYBE TOMORROW OTHER .WHY NO ONE TAKING CHANCES TRYING TO KNOW YOU FIRST FOR ''YOU''AS A PERSON .IT START BOTHERING ME A LITTLE THAT QUESTION , ''WHAT YOU DOING FOR A LIVING''? HOW YOU GUYS FEELING ABOUT THAT ?

i dont really care for money, what counts is getting to know the person

I find it's best to be real poor when your looking for a mate because then they will love you for who you are, not what you have.

I agree. I rather get to know the women first then what she does for a living right away, although it might matter if me and her are starting to build a honest realtionship with etc. But then again things come up and happen it's all a part of life.

But I'd rather get to know some one first vs just asking what they do for a living right off the bat.

Well, that's just a part of the overall mindset that insists on evaluating people by external circumstances, etc. What's your job, what kind of house do you live in, what kind of car do you drive, where did you go to school, how much money does your family have, that sort of thing.

None of this stuff really defines a person (although, admittedly, it can have different kinds and levels of impacts on those susceptible to them) -- but it's easier to say "Hey, this guy's a doctor, therefore he must be smart and rich and on his way up" than actually take the time to find out who he really is.

I have a small Handyman Service and work to make a few ends meet. Don't have much but, am pretty happy with who I am.

Gotta' feel for some of the people who bring up occupations early into the first meetings. I'd be pretty nervous and tounge-tied if GlamorousLyly had me across the table from her. She's pretty hot!

In my experience a lot of guys do define themselves by work. Perhaps they do not know what to ask at first and consider "what do you do for a living?" as a safe conversation starter. I would not say that everyone who asks this question is money hungry or status seeking.

Maybe just telling them what it is that you do in terms of the description of your work instead of answering with the actual title of your position. For example instead of saying you're a doctor... just say you help people...etc. Just an idea...

Hey hows the weather. That might work on here. I think you are limited on topics.And it just comes up. I'm proud of what I accomplished. Some people think I dont work. They just dont see me when I'm doing it.

One more thing to ponder. I doesn't really matter what a woman does for her job. For me to like her.

I usually ask it . I don't care about salary, I want to know what they do, or what they'd like to be doing. Some people just have a J O B to pay the bills (like me for now), but to some people thier work is interesting & important.

If they get upset when ask then I start to wonder why it's a secret.

I notice you talk about your "job" a lot. You are a self made businessman you have a right to be proud of your accomplishment.

Its no big deal to ask someone what they do for a living. Consider they spend 40+ hours a week doing it. Its a big part of someones life. It impacts and has implications in many other areas of someones life. Just part of getting to know someone.
