When you read all the forums here that are about religions it just shows you what religion as been doing since the beginning of time.

You have people of different fate beliefs and non belief discussing about their ideas what they know and have learned, when you say it like that it sounds great but....

The reality if you read most of what is written here, is that most people are closed minded to their own little universe and do not want others opinion but only the ones that fit what they think.

Religion which in my book is suppose to spring helpfulness understanding and the will to help your neighbor actually never does it only brings argument amongst different views, blaming others for stupid things like you said this you said that.

We don't have to agree to anybody else answers to a question or view on a subject but do we have to be so on our high horse because somebody does not agree with what we think is the truth.

I am not here to judge anyone or blame anyone I just want people to say what they think without being offended about what others write or offending the ones that do not agree with us.

Yes I am but I'm not complaining about peoples beliefs or that they not agrre with mine but about peoples attitude towards others belief .

If I do not agree with you doesn't make you less a valuable human being we just think differently thats all

Most people in the religion threads arn't exactly "arguing"(at least not in a negative sense). Some of us just like to discuss stuff. To someone that just pops in and reads a few posts it may seem that way, but its really not. Most of the regulars in these religion threads are friends.

Most of it is debate or very strong discussion. Sometimes it gets nasty and people say mean things, but overall it's okay. Except for when I have PMS. And, even then, I just go in a corner and cry.

You should never cry alone even if it's your time of the month.

Hummmmmmmmm Lee are we in fact reading the same forums Ohhh but you did say most now so I guess that is the kicker for surely it is not all.

There are times that I will read a thread in the Religion area and opinions of some actually makes me cringe. And it has no bearing as far as what their beliefs are but instead it is in fact the words they have directed towards another member for what they believe instead.

All you have to do is go down the list of threads ... there are enough violations in these topic titles alone...but it still goes on no matter how offensive. Doesn't it Txgal?

Thats true. I woudnt say Im close with many of the Christians but surely I have an approachable relationship with several . There is at least a free exchange of ideas and we will hear one another out. The intent is never to agree. That is not very likely to happen. They have their faith driven beliefs and I have my scientific or historical views that are derived from books and resources other than the bible.

End of story.

Welcome to human nature. Everyone needs to feel right, 90% are too lazy to justify it.

This is my general view of religious or not minded people not of any individual and yes I'm kind of judging the attitude they towards others not their belief.

If you say you believe in God I'm happy for you and if I say I do not then I hope you will be happy for me we don't have to agree to be civil people.

Why I said I am not here to judge anyone is I wanted to be sure that people understood that I wasn't pointing anyone in particular religious believers or non religious believers but people in general of all beliefs.

It's kind of hard to say your point of view without judging the ones that think differently than you, that's what debating or discussing is all about a sharing of ideas different or the same.

But never will i say to someone your beliefs are wrong, I'll say that's not what I believe.

Forums are whatever you make them.

You decide how much credence to give to what you read.

You decide which posts you will respond to and how you will respond.

You make your own experiences.

If you aren't enjoying the experience, there are other forums to peruse.

"Alzeimer"..by saying "that's not what you believe" you are in fact saying that what they believe is wrong ..

now add that fact to someone with a belief they consider as being truth and your remark could in their eyes seem offensive

Who ever said my belief were right, I can only judge my own way of thinking not others if I'm in a forum I will either decide to say nat so not to offend anyone or say what I think hoping others will agree to disagree.

I have to agree with Abracadabra on this. You are responsible for your own interpretations of the General Religion forum. You are also an adult and capable of deciding how you will present your own remarks and how you will internalize the responses of others back to you.

If you feel that you dont like the constant arguing and debate which is the name of the game here, then there are TONS of other forums to look at. I personally have very little interest in most of the other secular forums because they seem kind of silly and all about "flirting". Thats fine because its a dating site after all but Im not really looking for that and just like to post on these forums instead because they appeal more to my interests. .

You need to make your decisions and do what makes you happy or comfortable at least.
