But never will i say to someone your beliefs are wrong, I'll say that's not what I believe.

"Alzeimer"..by saying "that's not what you believe" you are in fact saying that what they believe is wrong ..

now add that fact to someone with a belief they consider as being truth and your remark could in their eyes seem offensive

Who ever said my belief were right, I can only judge my own way of thinking not others if I'm in a forum I will either decide to say nat so not to offend anyone or say what I think hoping others will agree to disagree.

"Alzeimer" so are you saying that you believe that your religious beliefs are wrong ...

if the answer is no.. then that means that you believe that your religious beliefs are right and if that is so then it's only logical that you believe the other beliefs to be wrong..

I guess what I am saying is that I never close my own mind to whatever is out there so like when I was a young kid and thought my Dad was the greatest at the time my belief were true about my Dad but now that I'm older and know more I know I was so wrong so who am I to say that what I believe to be true today will still be tomorrow.

The arguing is ok the questioning is ok the debating is ok, what I don't understand is people getting angry at others beliefs.

Well I think you might be playing a very tricky game of semantics there. Arguing generally denotes anger. When I hear the word "argument" I immediately equate it with a quarrelsome interaction between two or more people. Arguments tend to be non constructive and very rarely do they have any kind of resolution. The general rule with arguments is people tend to become overly emotional and they stop listening to one another.

A debate is another kettle of fish. Debate has parameters that must be adhered to at all times. Debate or debating is a formal method of interactive and position representational argument. You cant just scream and hope you are heard. Its also not a matter of the "last one to post, wins."

Is that what you mean by "anger"? huh

Arguing sounded better in French maybe the English meaning is different. By anger i mean when you don't believe like me I'll call you a bashing....

All you have to do is go down the list of threads ... there are enough violations in these topic titles alone...but it still goes on no matter how offensive. Doesn't it Txgal?

Well since you directed your question towards me I will give you my opinion concerning your question.

First of all I backed out of this thread and decided to actually read the Topic Titles with the General Religion threads to see how some have titled their threads. To be honest I very seldom come to this section unless Abuse Reports have been made about a particular post and I'm sent here by the link itself.

But after reading the Titles of only those on the first page. as far as I see the titles are within the forum rules the way they are worded. Now that is not saying that what offends one person will also offend another. You see we all look at things in a different way. The way I see the Titles they pretty much give you the heads up that some are none believers and in fact expect one to give them facts in order to prove them wrong I see no different within the titles here then I do in any of the threads. I my self may have chosen a different way to word things but that is another area we are all in fact different within.

Regardless if one believes in God or not that has no bearing on how I look at the issues that pertain to this particular forum.

But let me remind all that unless you choose to use the Abuse Report that in fact is within the system and at the hands of everyone that post within theses forums explaining the reasons one has for reporting these actions then it is very hard to expect the Mods to take the actions that are needed if there is a problem.

We do not go through each Forum and read all the Titles along with the content it's self.

Actually what I see most of the time that the problems arise from is when someone reads another opinion then decides to not answer the question in hand but to direct their answer towards another’s opinion instead. But they can not do so within a debate style instead they choose to degrade that person with in the process calling them names, cursing them ect... Talking down to another as if they were stupid or their opinion does not matter will only lead to others no longer hearing what one has to say about the issue.

Hummm see I don't see issues so black and white. My self even though I believe in what I do and not the way someone else does. In no way do I feel that the other person is wrong for what they believe in it is just not what I believe. You see within this world we have many beliefs when it comes to religion. And how can anyone expect everyone to believe the same way.

The way I see it I respect you for what you choose to believe and I expect you to also respect me the same way. We all have and opinion on many things in life not just Religion

I have read the words of those that believe in God and those that do not. In no way does that in fact change my thoughts of them as a person in general nor the friendship I maintain with them as well. For I respect in what their opinion is and the choices they make in life are in fact their choices and fully up to them.

But to automatically say another’s beliefs are wrong I can't say that due to would that not in fact work both ways. So then who is to say who is right and who is wrong? If one looks at it that way then both are right or both are wrong within their beliefs therefore we should just learn to respect each other for what ever we choose within life.

then you "TxsGal" must be an Agnostic or have no faith ..since a religious belief is regarded by the believers as being truth then your faith requires you to believe that your religion is the right belief and that the others religions are wrong

because to believe another religion isn't wrong is a disrespect to your religion a blasphmous act to your God and a dis-service to yourself

Arent we allowed to question beliefs or Organized Religion in general? If someone does not want to discuss that topic or they feel that it is "offensive" or "bashing" then why do they even visit the forum? Its like the person who eats the entire chocolate cake and then is angry that they overate but blames the cake for even existing.

When you read all the forums here that are about religions it just shows you what religion as been doing since the beginning of time.

You have people of different fate beliefs and non belief discussing about their ideas what they know and have learned, when you say it like that it sounds great but....

The reality if you read most of what is written here, is that most people are closed minded to their own little universe and do not want others opinion but only the ones that fit what they think.

Religion which in my book is suppose to spring helpfulness understanding and the will to help your neighbor actually never does it only brings argument amongst different views, blaming others for stupid things like you said this you said that.

We don't have to agree to anybody else answers to a question or view on a subject but do we have to be so on our high horse because somebody does not agree with what we think is the truth.

I am not here to judge anyone or blame anyone I just want people to say what they think without being offended about what others write or offending the ones that do not agree with us.

Thank you for reading this, agree about it or not it is your own choice, it is my opinion and only mine.

Just because someone disagrees with what you believe, doesn't necessarily mean that their not open minded. Some things are just too far fetched for some to swallow

Exactly. I feel Dennis is correct here. It also does not mean that non-believers are "bashing" when we disagree or share our knowledge on a given topic. Distaste does not equate with bashing and especially not when the counter opinion is quite informative and capable of supporting itself.

Humm now if you choose to believe that I'm Agnostic or of no faith then that is only your impression of me. For I have never in fact stated here of what my faith is.

One may take me different ways or one may actually see that I'm one with and open mind and I believe that we all should have a choice to believe what ever we choose to but that in the process of that we should not disrespect those that do not believe the way that I do.

Growing up I was taught that there are many different religions and that according to some they indeed praise either a different God or in fact some pray to the Virgin Mary and some even pray to statues of different shapes and forms. Within some they completely believe different then the way I was raised.

But the one thing that I was taught was that even if they do not believe the same as I was raised they should not be exiled or ignored.

In no way at anytime did I mentioned that I in fact believed what others believed in. What I said is they should have a choice to believe what they do and I should have the same choice. To me that is showing respect for the other person. But in no way does that mean that I believe all religions or would practice more then one. noway

Actually the General Forum is just for that Topic's that are in fact up for debate. If a topic is not up for debate then that topic should be posted with the correct category so in fact it will not end up a thread that has to be pulled for others bashing them on there beliefs.

But then it is just as easy for those that do not believe the same to in fact close the thread and walk away as you feel others should do if in fact that thread offends them. But the problem is most can not keep a subject within a debate form with out bashing another over there beliefs. I see this from the believers as well as the none believers. In fact I have seen both sides get pretty nasty.

For others "bashing" them? Isnt that somewhat subjective? What about how the non-believers are treated?

You seem to be implying here that the non-believers (or those of other faiths outside of Christian) are the ones that are doing this so called "bashing" If someone was truly guilty of bashing another on a personal level for their belies, then wouldn't you just ban them? General Religion consists of topics that are open to discussion and potentially debate. The Christians have their own forum in which to post devotional issues and topics specific to Christianity and that way, no one will dare question their beliefs.
