Topic: What happened this year? | |

What happened to you this year, that if, in the beginning of the year someone would have told you this was going to happen, you would have never believed it to be true?
For me, if someone would have told me that I was going to be pregnant, I would have knocked them out cold. Now, what I thought would have been the worst thing that could have ever happened, has been a true blessing! |

I think for me, the worst thing was being laid off and not having a job to raise my son. But now that I've had time to let it sink in, and if it is going to be permanent, then I have already decided to go pursue the career in Massage Therapy that I've wanted to do for the last 5+ years. I have an appt on Friday morning with an admissions counselor at a local technical school.

I would have actually said that if you were to tell me that my daughter was going to break my heart, I would have told you that you were crazy, but it has already happened. Now I dont know that it will mend anytime soon.

Nothing that dramatic in my life.
Just the 'quiet' inside has deepened. |

I cant think of anything

Just so every one knows, it can be something good. It doesn't have to be a bad thing.

The good...I quit smoking 3 months ago. The bad (they scared the sh*t out of me) when they said my EKG was abnormal, hence the quitting smoking. I knew I would quit (again) just not in that way, cold turkey in one day.

On a positive note, a happy thing is that my son has been so healthy this year, his bloodwork has been good, he is learning and thriving better than I ever expected him to. He is working harder and harder on learning to walk, he is going up and down steps much better than he did before. He still requires alot of assistance, but I can see the determination in him like I never saw before.

Congrats on your pregnancy!
I didn't think I would survive this year financially, but I have worked my arse off and I can say mission accomplished. |

Well, watching the "shark bubbles" blow on another job. This is the fourth place that I have worked at to close. In almost 40 years of working. At least this one took almost 20 years to bite the dust.
I knew that this was coming, especially with the way the automotive industry has gone lately. We manufactured sound silencing materials for GM, Toyota, Honda, & Chrysler. We also used to make the floor mats for the big 3 and other car companies. I know that I will eventually find another job, if employers will get over their "overqualified" system. It`s either "overqualified" or "too old", but they can`t come right out and say that. I especially love it when I`m told that: "We went a different direction away from you and the position has been filled". At least this year, I didn`t lose any Loved Ones. Some friends, but not Family Loved Ones. 2007 was a bietch when I lost my wife. Still really haven`t gotten over her loss in my life yet. You don`t get over 26 years in a few months. Oh well, thanks for letting me rant a little bit to get this off of my chest. Hope ya`ll have a good day. |

What happened to you this year, that if, in the beginning of the year someone would have told you this was going to happen, you would have never believed it to be true? Well, I had two books published, but that wasn't really a surprise. Other than that, it was the worst year ever. |

That I would have a wonderful man like TheCaptain propose to me.
And that I would get a letter from my job saying that I have to change my hours or lose my job (got that two days ago.) |

The worst thing for me was losing my job in January 08; it's almost a year and I haven't found a job yet and doubt if I will here in NY. Money is almost gone and I don't know what the future will bring or what will have to me. It's really been quite a struggle.
