Topic: Be Thankful If You Have A Job | |
---|---|
Happily employed, nurses are still in demand. this is just it. how many in non-skilled trades are just sitting back and whining about losing their job instead of being in industries like yours where the demand is still high? I will not help those that do not help themself. |

Speaking of jobs. It's a small world but I wouldn't want to paint it. -Steven Wright I like Steven Wright. |

Oh it was so easy to get my RN,
First 1 yr school full time, to get LPN Then after working full time for a while and having two kids, I did a distance learning program, that translates to self study. Working fulltime, two kids at night by myself, it took 5K, paid up front and 4 and 1/2 yrs to complete. For a 2 yr Assoc. degree. NOT EASY. If it was easy everyone would do it. Thats just the school part, the next thing is can you handle the work itself. |

I'm not a nurse but I've taken science classes for my field. It takes more then being able to read. There's studying every night, memorizing, understanding anatomy and physiology, advanced math, clinicals. I think they take chemistry too. It's not easy, Madisonman. Like Michiganman said, "If it was easy, anyone could it." Not everyone can do it. When it involves science, it's not even like a business class, advertising, or art. |

am thankful for my job....but right now...I reallyw ould be sooo thankful for some sleep. and to make it home safely. ![]() ![]() ![]() thank you. roads were icy this morning and all the traffic (not to mention lack of sleep) had me nervous. nursing is a tough job. the long shifts, the hours, all the thinking involved. all the responsability for peoples lives. This all can be very stressful. It is a life changing career thats for sure. a typical night can consist of many different thought processes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and my feet often hurt. ![]() and sometimes my head |

and btw..I work in a resource pool...which means i fill staffing holes for about 30-40 different floors between two downtown hospitals. I do med/surg and progressive care units. some patients are easy to take care of...but if you think it doesnt take years of training and thinking to get the freaking throught process down and doesnt require much INTELLIGENCE...then you are dead wrong. nursing school is tough. just to make it through the clincal program is crazy. then I went and worked in an ICU for 1 1/2 years..taking care of people on vents, trached patients, keeping peoples BP level so they dont crash or stroke out or something. watching subtle signs such as urinary output and the amount of ectopy on my monitor. for TWELVE hours. making sure my easy postop patient doesnt develop pnemonia from laying on his ass and not deep breathing.
it not only requires intelligence it requires motivation and assessments. and nerve. and heart. lots of different abilities to be a nurse..and we are ALWAYS learning. |

and btw enjoy your winter off break....and if ya wanna be a nurse...you are young perhasp if you think you had the mindset it might not be a wate of time to pursue. keep in mind though..sick people are very very hard to deal with sometimes.
sometimes I wish I could be a waitress and take orsers all day. or sell veges at a roadside farm. but I made the decision to be a nurse..and although Im probably not the best one in the world...and I do have many learning experiences to go through..alls I can do is try. and I dont always smile...but I do try ![]() sometimes its nice to get online when I have a few minutes and relax. joke. it makes work easier. and im on the computer 1/3 of my night documenting crap anyhow. |

I've been unemployed since March. My unemployment is almost out. Good news though, I've finished taking a Pharmacy Technician Course at the Community College and am scheduled to take the Cert Test mid January. Once I'm certified, there should be a job.
