My cousin is James Gurley of Big Brother and the Holding Company/Janis Joplin fame And I am descended from King Richard the Lionhearted of Robin Hood fame

Yeah, he was her lead guitarist and dated her for a time. Her backup band was Big Brother and the Holding Company, he was Big Brother

ok..
my dads side.... so my great X9 grandfather was the 3rd signer of the Decloration of independence.. my great X3 uncle helped hide billy the kid (aparently hes a couzin on his wifes side) while hiding from Pat garret. my 14th couzin started the largest retail chain in the world... my great grandpa was a bare nuckle fighter who fought Jack Dempsey to a draw on the west coast my moms side.. Pres Pierce's wife is my great X5 aunt.. my great X2 uncles son was pat garret. my great grandpa was a bare nucle fighter who Beat Jack Dempsey on the east coast.. oh and ... my dad and brother were part of the largest FBI assisted dinasour hunt in the united states, and the latest new strand of T-rex found was found on what used to be my family ranch.. but that one is a long story.. |

Not so much "famous", I guess, but my grandfather knew many of the old Chicago gangsters quite well, including Al Capone, who had a cabin near where my grandparents lived. Grandpa would play cards with all these guys. He also knew John Dillinger very well, and knew every step he took through the woods to evade the FBI during his escape form Little Bohemia.
Also, my brother's first wife's cousin is Tom Araya (from Slayer). |
