Topic: Chat rooms | |
---|---|
Besides with the threads we can read them later and see what was going
on. Even if all is gone we can still comment to the subject or what ever the topic was at the end and someone will surely come back and comment to what else was said. I like being able to come back and read what everyone was talking about while I was gone. You can see and learn alot about the people that are here. |

Why are some of you saying you like threads "better than" chat rooms?
I'm not suggesting to replace the threads with the chat room. Nor am I saying, or did I ever suggest, that the site be run neo-Nazi style where no one could EVER stray off topic? Why am I always so misconstrued??? GRRR. I was saying that, rather than having to sift through page after page after page of someone talking about personal stuff, in a forum that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand, that perhaps a chat room would be a place for that kind of stuff, or, in absence of that, a forum created specifically for that purpose. And rather than anyone agreeing and saying Hey, that's a good idea...all I get is this immediate hostile defense mode. Geez. Forget I even brought it up. |

chat room are a pain in the ass to me. i love jsh alot of Real and friendly people. and my opion is if someone wants to say hey hows the fmaily doin or i want to talk about my baby cutting her first tooth I'll do it. I know there are different topics like general sex and dating etc, but its not a "rule" that in General I cant say hey everyone my baby rolled over the first time today, instead of putting it in parenting talk. Just my thought |

Why fix it if it aint broke? and everyone is happy doin what they are doing. |

Please go back and reread my original post...once again I'm being
misconstrued. Okay, don't bother...I'll explain it to you again... I wasn't talking about the occasional stray from the topic, okay? I was talking about having page after page after page of conversation that has nothing whatsoever to do with the forum topic at hand, that's all. What's wrong with having a miscellaneous "anything" goes forum? I'm gettting just the teensiest bit miffed here at people twisting my words around. |

JeanC, I had to laugh while reading your poor misundersood thread. I so
totally agree with what you are saying. What you are saying is EXACTLY the reason it makes it so hard for newbies to join in. I was so inimidated by that fact that it seemed to be such a click. The same poeple, they all knew each other and no one ever makes a comment about what someone else said. They don't even read what others post, they simply read the main post and respond. I thought it was all very rude and felt like being in high school, when the clicks, totally ignored the geek or the new kid. Found out what it's supposed to be like, though, by posting in the Religioun & Culture section. Some great conversations, some great thinkers, people who are interested in what you say, and even comment on it. So I know what you are saying, and there needs to be a place where the "friends can go to say, hi" Where they can catch up and not in between the lines of a post that others might be interested in discussing. THANKS for saying what I've been trying, nicely to say for a long time. |

Sheila....relax girl. Don't take my post's so literally personal My
opinion is to the topic and what my thought is on it, not what your intent was or anything like that. Deep breath girl. I wasn't going to say anything but you have done it several times and made reference to what I have posted. I want to be sure and clear you understand me in that I am posting to the topic and my thoughts, or what comes to mind, due to the topic or issue brought up. Nothing more, nothing less. |

I think that having a b/s forum is a great idea. In fact, I think it was
brought up in the "feedback" board. As Red said, it is difficult to get involved at times, espeically for a newbie, when the conversation is of a personal chit-chat nature. I, myself, would prefer a board rather than a chatroom for said b/s. |

not to worry jane..i'm not "unrelaxed," just a bit perplexed at some of
the "knee-jerk responses" is all... Thank goodness a couple here understand where I was going with it; for a minute there I thought I was losing what was left of my mind! |

I think the posts can be cool if everyone TRIES to
see and HEAR and READ,,,everyone who comments,,and NOT just answer to their friends replies,,,,,LOL And,,,,,,,your point on chat,,,,I've never done that,,,LOL I live such a sheltered life HUH??? LOL This has been my only LOOK OR walk INTO THE INTERNET,,,so im not much of an good opinion??? Sorry... |

I think chat boards are cool. Used to mod one and admin at another. When
it gets going fast, you get practice at following what you want too. But a chat board (mirc) would practily kill the site as it is now. Everybody would get hooked on chat and never post or not as much. A whole lot more can be said in chat compaired to forums. JMO |
