I rarely call my girlfriend by her name, i usually call her darling, baby or sweetheart. I am a southerner too, though in a different country of course. Thank goodness ! I was about to post asking if I'm the only Brit in this thread. Hi Dan I know it gets boring when you are left in the company of yanks! lol! they aren't ALL yanks. aren't the yanks in the north only? |

Yes, I do realize VA is a southern state. But no, compared to other southern places, Northern VA just isn't quite there. I guess it's a matter of opinion as well. But the south, like anything, is comprised of many, many different aspects. To generalize that it's all rural, small town, unsophisticated, blah, blah blah is simply stereotyping. No doubt, Atlanta is considered a southern city but it bears hardly any resemblance whatsoever to to the narrow-minded view most people have of what the south is. |

coonass is a bayou raised person,, and you have to listen to them very well to understand them,, it helps if you already can understand a southern drawl.

i think its funny,, we talk about the way we are identified by our region,,, and the way we are brought up,, and still,, no one ever realizes,, there are excptions to every rule. cept one. we are all humans. and we all have a certain amount of smarts that we either choose to use or not. i could choose to be completely southern,, meaning never go north for anything, farm for the rest of my life, and be an outcast,, or i can be a college graduate and you would never know i came from a place where even if your a young child,, you are expected to get up at 5 like the rest of the family and get the work that needs to be done that day completed.
