Topic: Refusing to hold my dog's leash on a hike... thoughts please | |

Dump him! it was about helping you not tarnishing his manhood Wait as I stated he was not dating material just a friend that I would hike with once in while. Like I have stated I wouldn't date him, I will admit I am so glad to hear the responses since it enforces what I thought he was the one with the problem not my dog. |

Maybe if the dog was pink and u asked him to walk it in the neighborhood, i could see masculinity problems there lol.
But just to hold the dog is no biggie, unless he considers it the same as holding your purse while you go shopping...and for some guys that can be a little degrading if the have too much fickle ego. Or he was just kidding and it was taken out of context |

Well if it was taken out of context he had a few minutes to offer since I had to untie a hiking boot shake the thing out all the while making sure I didn't put my foot down since it was muddy. I have never asked a man to hold my purse in my life. That defies my logic on the why of that any more than I would hold his wallet. |

I"m not a guy so i can't give you a guy answer but psychologically sounds like the guy's got some issues... latent "my dong's bigger than your dong" situation.
So ... this guy answered pretty on the money honest wise. most guys aren't goin to own up to even considering having an issue... but its out there and that sucks. Ok I will try to be brief here but since this happened I just quite haven't been able to let it go. I have a great guy friend we were out hiking one day and I needed to stop take off my shoe, to do this I asked him to hold the leash of my dog. She is a 6 pound poodle, the only certified service toy poodle that I know of and no she isn't cut like a poodle cut. This is where it got weird, he stated " no way in hell am I am going to hold that rat's leash let alone hold her or play with her she is too little and I am a man's man". Well that kind of blew me away, I have never thought that a guy would have any problems with my dog. So my question is... Is this normal behavior for a guy because I have a little dog. I have tried to put myself in his shoes and just can't. Any thoughts would be great since I just have found myself making an excuse not to hike with him this week. Which is kind of bad since I have hiked with him for about 2 years now off and on. Thanks everyone and I hope this is the right forum for this topic. Surprising, he says he's a mans man, yet doesn't like small dogs... hhhmmm... maybe he's still trying to come out. |

Either way if it was,he would of made clear he was kidding..or he is just a rude person with no conduct. Or he likes you and is frustrated with all these hikes and him not getting "any" lol,and just lashed out in boyish reprisal And too some guys, holding a purse while a woman shops can take away there fragile dignity and masculinity, its a guy thing ..so thats what i meant by that |

IMO he's a lousy friend. You were asking for help, and I don't care if the dog has tendancy to hump is leg, all he had to do was hold the leash for a few minutes so you could deal with your shoe.

I will admit that small dogs annoy me. I used to deliver pizza and those little suckers are nothing more than 4 legged footballs with bad attitudes to me.
But...if the dog didn't have any problem with me, I wouldn't have a problem holding the leash. * Flashes Man Card by pointing out that I have an 80 pound Black lab. * |

Last time I was asked to hold a purse...my ex g/f found me wandering around asking random strangers if they thought it was " my color ".
Yeah....she never asked me to do that again...lmao |
