Way back in high school. Maybe it was 1992, or 1993. We went to Delaware Park, in Buffalo, behind the Albright Knox art gallery. It was the most picture-perfect summer day - sun was shining bright. The park was like a circus - there were people juggling back and forth, someone flying an RC helicopeter, people playing trick frisbee... the rose garden was in full bloom, and there were rental paddleboats on the man-made lake. After just a fantastic time outdoors, we drove just a short distance to the nearby Elmwood strip, and visited this quaint truly old-fashioned ice cream parlor, and had sundaes. I must have had a better time than her - I never got so much as a kiss, nor another date, despite a great first date. Said we were too good of friends... that is one way to damage a teenage boy's ego, I'll tell you!
