I'm sure guys like Ted Bundy would be "strongly" against it...if they were here now to vote...but......."switch!"

Do you agree or disagree with it? Capital Punishment

Agree, as long as it isn't too frequent.

Between the frequency of false convictions and the fact that life sentences are cheaper (depending on the study), I'd go with life.

Funny that society hasn't "evolved" beyond this question after all these years.

Why would I want to give a killer the mercy of death?

In a few minutes it's over for them while the relatives of the

victims have to suffer for their whole life.

Let them suffer life in a prison

It is useful...just used too much in my opinion.

exactly...but lets take the 'luxury' out of the life
some prisons are like vacation getaways only without the ability to leave the vacation.
take away their free time, their television, their phone rights, and every other privilege they get in prison. make them perform hard labor, make them actually have to pay for what they did.
or....leave it up to the family members of the people they killed.

I am strongly for it and I think if someone has been found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt then it should be immediate NOT 20 years later.

I disagree, from a societal financial perspective. The amount of funds it takes to house someone on death row, the legal fees, etc. It's astronomical. If it was certain and swift I'd have to rethink my stance, but as it is now I'd rather put more people in a life without parole situation than pay all that extra money and waste funds on one person.

I'm definitely against. For certain types of crimes, I would suggest cruel and unusual punishemnt. Maybe these events could be televised like MMA on pay-per-view.

I'll be for it when killing someone brings back the person they killed.

Otherwise --

What's the message the government is sending?

"You killed someone, and killing is WRONG. So now we're going to kill YOU."

Oh, so it's OK when it's THEM doing it....

Another reason why I'm an anarchist.

i toss this reason around in my mind too (same reason when you spank your kid and say 'i told you not to hit your sister'. it seems like sort of a double standard.

many hard-core criminals are repeat offenders. if there were a way to keep them in jail (and remove any, or most, of their appeal rights) thus removing the huge expense of housing them, i might tend to side with anti.

however, i've been looking at capital punishment as a more of a preventative measure than a deterrent or a punishment - to ensure that that offender will not get the chance to kill another.

Killing murderers is similar to putting asleep the animals that attack humans.
