Oh and Christmas party... yea thats gone. Apparently it's a "holiday" party. Which really doesn't bother me... except that they refuse to call it Christmas. However... they sing songs about Kwanzaa and Hannakah... then on to "holidays" laugh I mean it's OK for that but if someone says "christmas" people have a holy fit laugh I just don't get it.
actually the holidays your talking about are pagan, and i wont say what religious groups, hate the pagan religion, but its true:smile:
And if I don't get offended for my daughter to get up there and celebrate hannauka or kwanzaa.... why should other people care if kids wear a silly costume to school for halloween?
its one of those 6 of 1 and half dozen of the other.!!!laugh laugh laugh

We MUST take a stand!

I mean, what's next?

Soon, teachers won't even be allowed to have sex with their students anymore. explode

It offends me that they took prayer out of school.
Before you know it we are not going to be able to pee without permission.

Well, for the past 5 years in our school district, they have called it "Character Day" so as not to offend anyone and so that everyone can participate and not feel left out. But let's face it, I don't care what name you call it, common sense says you are dressing up for the Halloween party, and no one else can tell me different.

It's kind of like how my Mom doesn't celebrate birthdays or Christmas because of her religion, but she always sends gifts to us the month before that event. Now, I don't know about you guys, but to me, I take it that she is silently celebrating that holiday without openly admitting that she is really doing it. But that's just my opinion, and the rest of my family sees it differently, but to each his/her own I guess.ohwell

From our school district. Apparently Halloween offends people that don't celebrate it so this year... The kids are not allowed to wear costumes to school or celebrate it in any way. Friggin BS... I guess it doesn't matter that it offends ME that my daughter can't celebrate anything in school anymore.

Of course it doesn't matter as people just b!tch and moan about it to each other but don't do anything more than that. Let all the parents send their kids to school in Halloween costumes, to hell with the authorities

You need to contact your school board about Hannakah and Kwanzaa, both are religious holidays. If you deny one religion, you must deny them all. You'll have trouble selling that Kwanzaa is a religious one, but try it anyway.

The thing is I don't mind if these. I don't care. A celebration is a celebration. But they shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose. I don't want to get rid of anything... I'm trying to stop them from taking away.

Sorry I just wish the public schools would stay out of my child's social life and trying to teach them what they are suppose to believe for morals, family life, and a personal religion. It is all well to teach about a variety or cultures but I would just as soon throw my kids birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and religious celebrations myself or have my friends and family do it. Then I know my kid and all the kids there will have a really great time. Or when they get a certain age do it for themselves without being pressured to invite people they didn't like or have anything in common with and don't want to play with. Then I don't have teachers telling my fourth grader that he needs a girlfriend or that I need to cough up $1,400. so his choir can take a sparsely chaproned four day weekend to another state and stay in a inner city hotel with rageing hormones. It would be fine if Halloween wasn't a contest between parents who can buy the most expensive costume or send a bunch of garbage that will make my kid sick that glamorizes slasher films or bimbo's that rather snort drugs than see their kids. I don't want costumes in the classroom or on the campus where some kids will be frightened or feel left out because they can't compete. I think school should be school with as much as our kids have to learn to keep up it doesn't need to be a party atmosphere. IMHO That is part of the reason so many kids are falling behind. That is not to say school shouldn't be awesome. I just don't think you have to bribe them to come and learn.
