I want to state I do NOT condone or support infidelity on any level, folks. I'm just saying, for ME, it would "depend" upon the situation and the relationship.

I also find it sort of comical and also sad the countless other forms of cr*p and abuse people put up with, whine, cry and complain about in a relationship, but they stay put in loveless, compromised and completely miserable relationship.

But, the milli-second someone cheats...BOOM...GONE! I'm just one who doesn't get that. ohwell

I find it sad that people have to be so cruel if a relationship is that bad end it first

That was my point exactly. Did you even catch my ironic twist in my comment? whoa

I've witnessed first-hand people who have stayed in far WORSE situations that never even involved cheating. Not to mention, most of these folks just b*tch, whine and complain about how unhappy or unhealthy their relationship is, and totally belittle or degrade their S/O verbally to others who will listen, but they STAY.

Sure, cheating sucks! But, why is it the be all/end all for relationships?

I certainly place a HUGE amount of importance on being faithful in a relationship, and expect the same from my S/O. But, I certainly don't rank it as #1 because I personally feel there are a few more important aspects to a relationship.

I will say again though: It would "depend"!!!

Did you, would you, get back with someone, that cheated on you ?

if you did why did you give them a second chance ?

Been there done that for 12 years of marriage...
I think I didn't have enough self respect and I bought a lot of BS. I won't do that again. Either be with me or tell me straight up you don't want to be, but don't cheat...

What is important to you in a relationship, isn't necessarily what is going to be important to me.

Having been cheated on multiple times, I am simply not willing to deal with that crap again. So faithfulness is extremely important to me.

People who are seeking dates have what are called " deal breakers ". Well..unfaithfulness is MY deal breaker.

I don't care how long the relationship has been going on or how " involved " it is.

If she cheats, she's gone. It's as simple as that.

I hear you, and totally respect that. As the phrase goes, "to each their own". We all have our lines drawn in the sand in regards to what we will accept/forgive or not, don't we?

I, too, have been cheated on. NOT "multiple" times though - at least to the best of my knowledge.

I'm just saying that the time I was cheated on, it was NOT the ultimate "deal breaker" for the demise in the relationship in the end. It was something that stung FAR deeper than her just having sex with another person for me.

Once again, I can only shake my head sadly at the impoverishment of ideas here.

If a certain very privileged member of my tribe tells me he's not going to do something, and then I find out he's done it anyway, I look at it as a prime opportunity to exercise my "revenge" capabilities.

Like (just for one example) the time a guy I lived with swore up and down to me that he had put a relationship with a girl I despised on ice. I later found a note from her in his backpack that indicated that he had seen her very recently--when I had supposed he was playing a show. (Yes, I will snoop in people's stuff, especially if I'm paying all the house payment and bills, and that person is driving one of my cars all over hell. You bet your a$$ I will.)

So that was a b!tch and it made me angry. On further searching I found his keys. After excluding all the keys that I knew, I was left with one that I was pretty sure was the key to this young lady's house.

I took this key and had a copy made.

I'm not going to go into detail about what happened after that, because of that "statute of limitations" dealie. It hasn't quite been seven years yet.

Anyway, again I ask you: Is the glass half empty or half full? yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Ya know Ive always said I wouldnt take my ex back for what he's done...yea cheated with a " garden tool" But, ya know there are times when for like half a second you think about what if...to tell the truth im scared sh!tless to see him again and not know what im going to be feeling even if I might still hate the man.

i did believe in giving second chances until my ex hubby screwed with my trust. we had been together seven years and he decided it was time to move on i guess to some other girl.. why its beyond me (and no it wasnt becuz of the sex lol) and i welcomed him back into my life after a months seperation. then come to find out he was seeing the wife of the couple he was staying with .. so that totally ruined any plans we ever made of fixing everything. sometimes its best to get out when u first find out.

When I gave my ex-oldlady a second chance I think it just made her take me for granted. I was able to forgive the infidelity but failed to take into account the whole picture. The real issue there is trust and respect. She stayed faithful for awhile but she lied more in general and ended up cheating again. In the end I couldn't trust her and she didn't respect me. I guess you could say that one who cheats has a problem with respect in general. I mean to say, cheating is a disrespectful act. Can you gain somone's respect by giving them a second chance when they didn't respect you in the first place? Anything is possible, but not everything is likley. So, even when you take into account why they cheated i.e. not emotionally fullfilled or sexually or oppertunistic or what have you, the base problem is still the same. Respect and Trust.

If you get counseling & find the REAL root of the problem, things can be saved. Been there, did that. Gave us 4-5 more yrs, of the best relationship either of us had ever had. We all make mistakes & cheating is usually a sign of some other kind of problem. We had quit communicating, still loved eachother to the max.

I am truely glad that worked for you. I stand by what I said about respect though. It's a whole lot easier to repect somone you communicate with.

it is a respect thing yes and yes counciling helps most. i tried that as well and learned what i already knew. he wasnt ready to grow up and he still had his single life in mind and i couldnt change that. He went so far as to tell the councelor he didnt love me anymore cause i wouldnt let him hang out with the boys all hours of the night. I said i have no control what you do but when it comes to who you did thats when we have a problem.
