There are quite a lot of people here with a pretty hefty post count..

But, how many of all these posts are actually ones with any kind of substance. If you take off all the posts you have made that are merely just a smiley, or merely just a good morning, or a ((hug)), how many posts are you left with?

Personally i am yet to make a post with any substance, but hopefully one day i will.

Also, does anyone else get annoyed when you peek into a thread and see page after page after page of people talking about nothing?

Well an easy problem to fix. You don't like post that go on about nothing. Then don't peek you peeking tomlaugh

I read a few posts here and there, a couple of times, I have replied with a serious and thought out post...on topic and to the point of the discussion...it did not seem to really get recognized by the OP as he was more interested in hitting on the young women that sympathized with him...as long as the OP is not interested in a serious post, then I don't bother anymore...

I try to read the political threads to learn...however, almost anytime I ask a question or make a comment, it is either not answered or just ignored...I am not argumentative enough in most of the political threads so I can understand that..

I really just do not post much anymore...maybe I got burnt out on it...*shrugs shoulders*
and many times the OP will ignore a responce to the topic if they dont know you or dont like what you have to say..

realy depends on the OP and the subject matter...
example.. see above..

^^

Whatever reason, I do not take a thread serious if the OP does not take an active part in it...

I will even check back the next day or so to see if they have shown any interest in the thread...many times they don't.

If I respond to a serious question about a serious issue, and I have put thought into it, which I generally do, and they just blow it off...I don't post anymore then.

Regardless, I tend to think of a thread as a conversation...when I am involved in a thread, I go back and read...I try to stay caught up with the posts and respond accordingly...

I have stopped posting in many types of threads...it just seems to be a waste of time...

not many people here know me, and the ones that do probably don't really like me all that much...so I guess posting anything anywhere might be just a waste of space then... lol

Boston Legal is on tonight and I like that show...

Aww Deb! I like you!

I also try to keep up with a thread if its one i have made serious posts in. Since i have been posting on this site i have made more serious posts than i ever used to elsewhere. But i am still the same sh1te talking person i ever was in the main.

I am learning which threads are a total waste of my time, but i still have hope that some may actually get interesting.

many times a thread will be a rebuttal form another thread.. or things being referenced are refering to something that happened in the past... many of us here have been here for a long time.. and are friends both on and off the scrfeen.. so we have many things that we can reference.. sometimes with only one word.. and my one word will lead to another one word..

example.. if i were to post a new thread titled caulking.. with nothin but laughing under it... it will inspire a whole thread about nothingness to you but it will be a walk down memory lane for many of us.. and will include llamas, pirate ships, rum, and bob sagget!

dribble to you.. a deep memory thread for us..

Dont go! lol!

I wasnt suggesting that anyone here only makes these posts of little substance, just wondering what people thought their ratio might be. Not that i really expected anyone to really answer it directly.

Post count is really of little importance to anything, i agree. Some people do seem to think though that it means something.

What gets me is when i see people moaning about not being able to meet anyone on these sites, but very few of their posts actually show much personality, or wit, or originalty. Maybe they could try to expand their mind a little and post in a way that would make them much more interesting to those that read what they say.

I completely understand what you are saying. However, its not really what i am referring to. There are many threads i read and there is none of this going on, just hugging and waving and people saying good morning..

Of course people can post whatever the hell they like(well, within the given rules anyway), and its not my place to say that this is wrong. But personally i cant understand what people get out of doing and saying the same things day in day out.

I usually don't post just a smiley I usually have something to say, but others tend to ignore me if I am not part of their circle of friends. Which doesn't really bother me anymore.

As Izzie said, some of us are friends on and off the threads and they are the ones who pay attention when we need it.

Substance... you mean people take this stuff seriously?

Maybe once or twice when I'd had enough of someone attacking a friend, that's when my IQ wakes up. Other than that, absolute drivel and banter.

I have lots of friends that are on this site, and many of them I can call up and talk to on a personal level if I want to discuss something...

I think that when something is posted in a public forum (I am talking serious posts/topics) and they want discussion on it, then I think personally, that they ought to acknowledge what people post to them...

IF you only want/need your close personal friends input and that is all you pay attention too, then why post it in a public forum?
