So I'm reading a book and 1 point well taken is finding the positive in everything (which I've been accused of more than once )
The author says one ex. that served him well was the problem of boring dates. He goes on & I cite him: "Singles widely regard this as an insurmountable obstacle, not to mention a sheer waste of time. As one who has always feared losing time more than losing money and who is almost as easily bored as a 4 yr old, I was the perfect candidate for having - and loathing - boring dates. Yet, I can honestly say that I never felt that even the most boring date was a waste of time.
Thanks to applying my philosophy of finding the positive in every situation, I turned boring dates - especially the most boring dates - into learning experiences: I decided to find out what rendered a person boring. It's a way to turn a situation that most people find entirely NEGATIVE into a POSITIVE one. The more boring I found my date, the more ?'s I would ask her to determine the roots and characteristics of being a boring person - and therefor also of being an interesting one. (you gotta love the way this guy thinks eh? ) I believe that I learned much about that area (he used it in teaching later). I learned, among other things, that some people lack passion and a lack of passion makes people uninteresting; that a lack of introspection makes people boring; that being interested only in oneself or only in macro subjects makes a person boring. and I learned how and why I get bored. I grew from boring dates. Then there were the bad dates, dates with women who were not necessarily boring but with whom I had almost nothing in common or, actually disliked. I learned even more from these dates. I learned first, about me. Why didn't I have any chemistry with this person? What was it perhaps that I lacked that prevented me from liking this person more" I thought this chapter was very interesting .. we all talk about the wasted dates we've been on. This guy is using that to GROW. What a concept!! So .. thoughts? |

I would say his book would be worthwhile if the boring people he was dating read the book and were able to help themselves.
Other than that, it sounds like another book of self discovery. |

Outstanding Point!!!!!!!! or hey, maybe the bored person could spice things up on the date. Just like in the movie Gladiator: Maximus: "Are you not entertained!!!!" Then Cut the boring son of a *****es head off!!!! |

That would turn the tables wouldn't it. Unfortunately, we wouldn't now posses this fine work.

I find I cut bad dates short, dont want to waste my time nor his. Rather do my hair or laundry. So you see I too turn it into a positive true .. if you can - sometimes I find it too awkward if it makes me come across rude. I hate hurting people's feelings .. |
