your daughter doesn't go to the bus stop by herself? She is six. You let kids stand alone on the street at age 6? Nobody I know does that. That would be negligent. You see the parents standing at the bus stops with them. |

They could make their own breakfast at 4.(oatmeal) One asked for an alarm clock in Kindergarten. they freely ride their bikes, walk to friends....1.5 miles away.....we have "roll played" many scenarios on how to be safe....i have no such fears..... i live in a metropolitan area of about 5 million Aren't the children doing the parent's job? |

i did it...so someone does it.....neglect? in your opinion...
I am raising FMA's and they enjoy life............... fly to destinations as unaccompanied minors, been to Mexico, India, NYC, Los Angeles... all over America. Can hold their own in a conversation with "Adults"... get Straight A's in Accelerated programs....Have opinions of their own...and they express them...do not succumb to peer pressure...YET...and are leaders in their respective Grades... Maybe more should neglect their children in such a manner??? your daughter doesn't go to the bus stop by herself? She is six. You let kids stand alone on the street at age 6? Nobody I know does that. I see that kind of crap happen all the time. I see lil 6 and 7 years olds walking home and to school all the time. You won't even know your kid is missing until the school calls and tells you they didn't show up. And if you ask the kids, they tell you it scares them to be out there alone. One of the ways I prepare my daughter for the future I make damn sure she gets one.

as far as the bad lil girl... you're correct that it's her mother's fault. However, there's nothing you can do about it except keep your kids away from her.

DDN~I think in the laws of each and every state it is neglect, yes. Your kids have just been lucky.

it is not neglect at any age to have a child wait at the bus stop

I have a friend who's kids are just rotten, terrible, crazy lil sh!ts. And she knows she's the cause of it, yet does nothing to fix it. I can only do so much for someone else's kids.

Wow.... how interesting. I can say for myself I'd never, NEVER, EVER permit that and would be worried about abduction and cars on the road. I think Lily has similiar concerns. I think if my kid is old enough to be home alone he can wait for the bus alone. According to most daycare centers, that is age 12. According to my state, they can stay home alone at 9 and can babysit siblings for an hour at 10. 12 is babysitting age here. But that is tit for tat. I wouldn't let my 6-year-old wait alone at a bus stop either. It bothered me that my daughter was let out to run free in kindergarden after school. They go to my school now (I teach at a private school), and I am much happier with their safety. |

it is not neglect at any age to have a child wait at the bus stop What you have described, overall, is neglect by having your children unaccompanied and unsupervised. |

They are standing in the rain at the bus stops with their children with umbrellas. The children feel safe and cared about. |

AHHHHHH
now the assumptions made about me or my parenting are revealed!!!!!!!! i work from home.... i can see the bus stop from my window there are/were several other kids at the same bus stop sometimes even other parents with their kids were there....at the community/neighborhood bus stop.... Still think it's neglect???? it is not neglect at any age to have a child wait at the bus stop What you have described, overall, is neglect by having your children unaccompanied and unsupervised. |

If you can not reach out and stop them from being pulled into a van, then yes. But whatever makes you feel better, dude. It's your story and you can stick to it if you want.
Oh and I live in Ohio. The state laws here are over age 11. I spoke only for my own state. |
