I would liketo share what the Bible has to say about peace, in honor of people who have served in our armed services, both to recover peace and to maintain it. Isa 36:16 (NIV) "Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern, Jer 46:27 (NIV) "Do not fear, O Jacob my servant; do not be dismayed, O Israel. I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their exile. Jacob will again have peace and security, and no one will make him afraid. Ezek 34:25 (NIV) "'I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild beasts so that they may live in the desert and sleep in the forests in safety. Psa 122:6 (NIV) Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure. And -- the most important kind of all: John 14:27 (NIV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. |

Esther the queen of Ahasuerus She was a Jewess named Hadas'sah (the myrtle), but when she entered the royal harem she received the name by which she henceforth became known (Esther 2:7). Ahasuerus having divorced Vashti, chose Esther to be his wife. Soon after this he gave Haman the Agagite, his prime minister, power and authority to kill and extirpate all the Jews throughout the Persian empire. By the interposition of Esther, this terrible catastrophe was averted. Haman was hanged on the gallows he had intended for Mordecai (Esther 7); and the Jews established an annual feast, the feast of Purim (q.v.), in memory of their wonderful deliverance. Esther appears in the Bible as a "woman of deep piety, faith, courage, patriotism, and caution, combined with resolution; a dutiful daughter to her adopted father, docile and obedient to his counsels, and anxious to share the king's favor with him for the good of the Jewish people. There must have been a singular grace and charm in her aspect and manners, since “she obtained favor in the sight of all them that looked upon her” (Esther 2:15). She was raised up as an instrument in the hand of God to avert the destruction of the Jewish people, and to afford them protection and forward their wealth and peace in their captivity." |

You too, bro. Clark. God's Comfort for Us: (Psa 46: 1 NLT) God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (Psa 37:7 NLT) How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. (Isa 61:1-2 NASB) The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives, And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn. (1 Pet 5:7 NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you. We are to comfort others: (2 Cor 1:3-4 NASB) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (Romans 12:15 NLT) When others are happy, be happy with them. If they are sad, share their sorrow. |

On thee my heart is resting!
Ah, this is rest indeed! What else, Almighty Saviour, Can a poor sinner need? Thy light is all my wisdom, Thy love is all my stay; Our Father's home in glory, Draws nearer every day. My guilt is great, but greater The mercy Thou dost give; Thyself, a spotless Offering, Hast died that I should live. With Thee, my soul unfettered Has risen from the dust; They blood is all my treasure, Thy word is all my trust. Through me, Thou gentle Master, Thy purposes fulfill! I yield myself for ever To Thy most holy will. What though I be but weakness, My strength is not in me; The poorest of Thy people Has all things, having Thee. When clouds are darkest round me, Thou, Lord art then most dear, My drooping faith to quicken, My weary soul to cheer. Safe nestling in Thy bosom, I gaze upon Thy face; In vain my foes would drive me From Thee, my hiding-place. 'Tis Thou hast made me happy, 'Tis Thou hast set me free; To whom shall I give glory For ever, but to Thee? Of earthly love and blessing Should every stream run dry, Thy grace shall still be with me, Thy grace, to live and die! By Theodore Monod |
