Also, there were far ranging consequences with Iraq...raning from their harboring of terrorists to their continued destabilization of the Middle East. Russia, although corrupt and increasingly powerful, is contained for the moment and the last thing we need to do is give them a reason to be any more belligerent towards us than they already are.

as a American. who came from Ukraine. i have been saying for a long time. people needed to beware of Russia. i have been called crazy. but as things are going now i was right all along. it seems our government only attacks little pis see country like Iraq, after all our army can not even beat Iraq in a war. how will they beat another super power.

They've eliminated their national debt, tightened their authoritarian government style, increased corruption, and continued with their human rights violations. However, they are still a world superpower and we don't have the liberty to simply attack them at leisure. The results, as I've said, would be devastating. It's akin to other countries' inability to attack us because we would retaliate swiftly and strongly.

It's ENTIRELY different from the war in Iraq. The war in Iraq is not against the country, but rather against the terrorists which are harbored there. We are trying to bolster the country while destroying our enemy. This is counter-intuitive to every traditional notion of war. Generally, war intends to destroy the infrastructure through attacks. But in Iraq, we have to preserve the infrastructure in order to facilitate the rebuilding of the country and civilization. This is extremely delicate and hard, and that is a major reason why the war effort is going so slowly. If we were to attack a country like Russia, we would be able to exert our militaristic force much more easily and take out their infrastructure rather than tiptoe around.

but on war in Iraq, i think your leaving out the facts, the facts are before we invaded Iraq. there were no terrorist there.as for USA attacking Russia. it would be a blood bath. USA would have to bring back the draft. then there is the nukes. it would wipe out life as we no it. the best thing the USA can do is. not get in to Russian business.

I never said that there were terrorists there when the war started. I said that the war is going slowly now because they are fighting terrorists. Whether or not you agree with the reason for the war, or agree that there were terrorists there at the beginning (I disagree with both, mostly), the fact is that now they are fighting insurgents and terrorists while trying to save the country from ruining the infrastructure.

And yes I agree that the war on terror is a largely fictional pretext for governmental power under the Republican heading. However, there is no doubt that insurgent resistance in Iraq is real and furious.

As for this statment, I you think anyone can wipe us off the map, then you need a new country to live in. Are you willing to say F**K IT and send all our missles in the air. What purpose would that serve other than making it impossable to live in certian ares. No, if we go against another country like Russia, we will use conventional warfare. What are other countries like Canada, France, Germany, ect. doing to help? Nothing like usual. Learn the facts before you speak. Yes Russia may have a lot of nukes, but other than that they wouldn't really be a threat. For one, either of us could launch counter missiles and have them detonate over the ocean though radiation would still be a factor. Even if they nuked us they would lose US farm land which would drastically reduce the total food produced in the world and lower the number of people the Earth could sustain.

In non nuclear warfare we are far more advanced technologically and I am sure would be victorious, but again we have no reason to go to war with them.

Russia can thank their Bear Arse nuclear weapons exist!
If not we'd kick their arse!
