It's sad that people feel like they have to be afraid of strangers. I don't want to be like that. I'd rather greet them as potential friends & offer them some iced tea.

Hmmmm. I'd simply ask them who they were. My door has a huge glass pane and I'd just ask....I could see them and they me.
Simple. |

This morning there were three strangers. I think I said, "Good morning". I ended saying, "No we don't want any more magazines thank you, but good luck to you."

Note to self: Call before visiting Merlin & wear a vest! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You'll be safe. I don't shoot until I know there's a threat. Better to be prepared and answer a few Q's at the PD. Than be unprepared and have my daughter pick out my last suit. hi red ![]() |

We'd be that strange couple the nieghbors would warn newcomers about. |

I used to just ignore people at the door, but last summer we had a gang that used younger kids (like 12 and 13) to go door to door pretending to sell stuff. If no one answered they assumed the house to be empty and would go into the backyard and break into the place. So, now I always tell them through the door to go away....that way they won't think no one is home and try to break in.

what do you do? lock and load then call to them, ask to see id jeeze you Americans are paranoid..people do that all the time around here, usually looking for someone in the neighborhood...since everyone knows everyone else, its easy to give them directions... |

But I still would not open a door to a stranger..period. We live in a different world today. |

Since I live in a very small town where everybody knows everybody,I'd prolly answer the door. I have inquisitve neighbors so if something did happen the officers would know who to pin the crime on.
Besides I figure when it is my time to die nothing I do or don't do will stop it. |
