Okay. Best 80's band. Well, let's look at it like this.
DEF LEPPARD- Best selling rock band of the 80's. Pyromania and Hysteria, both produced by Mutt Lange, those two albums combined sold more than 30 million copies. Two freaking albums did that folks. Not to mention those boys all fit together. Joe Elliot is one of the most underrated lead singers of all time. U2- Joshua Tree is arguable the best album of the 80's. These boys are still going strong today. They survived grunge, glam rock, pop rock, and the damn teen movement. Returned so damn strong in 2000 and proved they were still one of the best. POISON- Based on sales, these guys were huge. Musically, they were okay, but they had a good sound and look. BLONDIE- I feel people overlook them, mostly cause everyone thinks Blondie was just Deborah Harry. They had an awesome sound and broke down boundaries with Rapture, which really (I feel( introduced rap to white people who hadn't really heard it. GUNS N' ROSES- Funny that one album (Lies was just their garage stuff that produced Patience) would make them one of the best. But Appetite for Destruction is not an ordinary album. It is one of those gems that comes along and really just every song on it is so damn good. Now, the three greatest bands of the 80's are as follows. 3. DEPECHE MODE- Their influence is felt today. They never sold millions of copies like other commercially successful bands, but that didn't matter to them. They created music, always testing boundaries and creating things that most wouldn't dare do. 2. SLAYER- Three words....REIGN IN BLOOD! Say that, and the argument is over. No other album has made an impact on metal like Reign did. It's fast, it is furious, and it is hard! Moreover, I have never heard another thrash album that, from start to finish, is just so smooth as Reign is. 1. QUEENSRYCHE- I know they are famous for EMPIRE, which came out in 1991. But back in 1988, these boys released what many consider to be the best album of this decade...OPERATION MINDCRIME. But even before that, Queensryche had a following that is still existent today. Fair Warning, released in 1984, paved the way for them and is also an album that is critically loved (but not that many people know about). |
