I saw Turks being chased down and beaten by a mob of Germans before, and once saw a group of Punk Rockers beaten by Police while waiting on a Train in Aschaffenberg! I mean, come on Belushi Europe is nothing like you portray it! Yes it is. It is exactly like I portray it. Because I lived there and travelled there. It obviously means you have been hanging around the wrong places. When was the last time you were in Europe? |

Why do the Germans abuse the Turks then and in Denmark and France they abuse Muslim and African immigrants? Why do the Americans abuse the Mexicans, the Cubans, the Canadians, in fact all of their neighbours? I think you will also find, that the countries that you mentioned have very good integration rates for their immigrants. |

Which country was I was reading that if they marry someone from a different country they couldnt bring them home? Netherlands? Im cant remember! Well thats crap to start with. If I (forgive me again) married a Dutch woman, of course I can go to Holland to live. |

So in total, all of your anti-european arguments are mis-informed, out of date or ignorant blatherings with no actual facts to back them up.
Nice Fanta. |

Europe is a far cry from Utopia! We are the worlds melting pot and have far less bigotry (not perfect) than I ever saw in Europe. WHAT?? You are joking right. All you have to do is look at the majority of Americans on here. Mexican immigration - a topic Im sure you no doubt remember. You should do you got banned for a while because of it. If you are not bigoted towards the Mexicans, or the Canadians, the you give each other a hard time because you are Democrat or Republican. You will even debate the merits of a Prez candidat because he is black Racial discrimination was largely criminalized in the mid-20th century, and it became socially unacceptable or morally repugnant as well, but major inequalities still persist and racial politics remain a major phenomena. The heaviest burdens of racism in the country have fallen upon Native Americans, Asian Americans, African Americans, Latin Americans and some other immigrant groups and their descendants. Racist attitudes, or prejudice, are still held by moderate portions of the U.S population. Members of every American ethnic group have perceived racism in their dealings with other groups So, dont start holding up the US as the moral centre of the universe. When you have 30 countries in a space that is smaller than the US then of course there is going to be tension. But that stems from 1500 years of interaction. The US got there in 230 years! |

Mexican immigration - a topic Im sure you no doubt remember.
You should do you got banned for a while because of it. We are against Illegal Immigration! As far as Legal Immigration we allow the most in the world, bar none! Trying to protect your borders from illegal immigration is a far cry from bigotry, and defending myself from unjustly being called a bigot for my views on Illegal immigration is what got me temp suspended. Actually for telling you, a British citizen who has never been to America to stay out of our internal politics! I never claimed the US was perfect, but we are a far cry better than the Europeans. Of course you wouldn't really know would you? We tend to openly debate our problems here and dont hide them from the world press where every European tends to fixate on every tidbit about our country they can read. I understand that interest since what happens in our country, from politics to the economy, affects the world. One day maybe you will see fit to visit this great country! You are welcome you know. We welcome everyone who comes to visit. As far as racism, we have come a long ways in 230 yrs but yes, we still have a ways to go. You are trying to say that Europe doesn't have racism, but I know that isnt correct. Racism is alive and well in Europe, even in England where I have been! You say we got here in only 230 yrs, but you forget we are mostly of European descent and brought those problems with us when we came! In the 2 and 1/2 years I was in Europe I met many very nice Europeans who were always fascinated and interested in America. I never met a single one who talked bad about us or our country. Although I have noticed many dont like Bush, I cant imagine that has changed. The most bad mouthing I have ever heard about us or our country seems to come from the few (not all) that spend a lot of time on this site! I find that a little odd at times, but I am trying to understand despite the fact that those few have either never been here or were shunned for some reason by our gov. |

I can show facts, and have before, but I was trying to keep this conversation civil and not trying to make a UN event of it! Once again beluschi, I never claimed America was perfect but you are trying to make Europe sound superior to America and I know it isnt! I was trying to get you to admit that yourself without the links but I can provide them if you insist! We have links here to every news source and archive in the world. Ninety Nine prcent of them in English! Oh and Im not anti-European! Its a nice place to visit I just dont want to live there! |

It obviously means you have been hanging around the wrong places. When was the last time you were in Europe? I was in Frankfurt one night (of many) and me and my friends watched these guys mug a gay man. One went inside a bar and lured a gay man outside using sexual overtures while his bubbies waited in the alley for them. When they came out they beat him and robbed him! I guess you'll say stuff like that never happens in Europe too! Yes it was in the Red light disrict, but red light districts dont even exist in America, and all yuu read in the papers about here doesnt happen every where either! |

You should come here once for a visit. You'd see its not a backward Nation inhabited by heathens!.
There is a lot more good than bad here. |

I think you will also find, that the countries that you mentioned have very good integration rates for their immigrants. Until recently we have always had an open border with Canada. Canadians and Americans are as one people, really! I dont know where you get that. Even Mexico is our friends. We dont abuse them, even when they come here illegally they are not abused. maybe a few minor incidents, but not many! Where do you come up with all these misconceptions? I dont think you realize how many people are in the US! |

... and how long ago was it you were in Europe?
I think you have the blinkers on. Where there are more people, there are more abusers. You are a country of 300 million. Europe is a plethora of countries with 728 million people. You make it sound like you cannot walk down the streets of Europe without getting mugged. I think I would rather walk the East End of London at 2am than walk through New York's Central Park at 2am .. and if I remember rightly, in the Red light districts of Hamburg, the majority of tourists were from the US. So, you may not have the right light areas (which is rubbish anyway, because you do) but you certainly have whores ... and where there are services, there are customers You started this debate about Europe and you have seen very little of it. I dont need to see the States to see the degradation. Its all over our news. Its presented to us in your presidential debates and its covered in your tv stations for us to see. So, while Europe is not Utopia, and I never said it was, it is a far cry from the Sodom and Gomorrah you paint it to be. But then with 1300 years of culture, what do you expect? |

Ive been around Europe enough! 2 and 1/2 yrs is a long time to be away from the US and Europe is small in comparison!
All you're doing is pointing out what I've been saying. Europe has a lot more division and bigotry than us! Lets take Bosnia/Herzegovina for example. You might say hey that's not Europe, but when you consider America it is. That would be like me traveling say, to Idaho, and when I got there after traveling through 7 or 8 security check points at every single state border, I find a war between three different factions of Idahoans committing genocide against each other! Or say, when I get to Oregon and Calif I find a war like in the ME! Jews killing Palestinians and visa versa! Or Tex and see Texans burning down whole neighborhoods where Mexican immigrants live. Not just illegals they have a very large population of multi-generation Mex/Americans all over the SouthWest! Politics, what about France where the students were rioting against the Gov for days. Or Denmark where the Muslim leftist group calling itself “Beatte Without Borders” set fire to the immigration minister’s car, condemning the government’s “racist immigration policies." Or where they kill Danish taxi drivers regularly over a feaking cartoon. Just to name a few states, or as Europeans call them countries, and their problems! I dont see that here either! Just the fact that I can get in my car and drive from here to Seattle, a distance equal to that of London to Baghdad without once going through a border check point speaks volumes about the difference and unity here in the US and Europe. You cant do that in Europe. American Indians? I live among them. The Cherokee, the original band, live and thrive within 30 miles from me. No one looks down on them. They are a part of our culture and we live in harmony with them! They are very successful and own their own town not just a reservation! We dont argue and fight with Volunteers from the great state of Tennessee and they dont fight with Mississippi, Kentuchy, Alabama, Louisiana, or Missouri. We Americans, all 50 states, live, trade, and travel freely from one state to the next, one culture with the next! Like I said you should visit and believe less of what you read in the paper. Our bickering and open debate, not hiding the ugly truths, are what gives this great country the ability to live in such a United environment. You would be impressed and Europeans would do well to achieve the same! You'd think after 1700 and some years they could do better! |

If you remember the Europeans tried that division crap in America once.
The British, French, and Spanish came here and divided the continent. They had many wars, cheating the Indians too, involving them in their wars alling tribe against tribe on different sides, and then never living up to the promises they made. Eventually we ran them out, one by one, and created not just the greatest democracy on the face of the Earth. We created a melting pot of cultures and races from every corner of the globe. While it isnt a perfect unity yet, we have hope that one day it will be, and we continue to evolve. We have overcome a lot of diversity and troubles. We have always worked through them together and came out the other side even more united. I believe we will overcome our current troubles as well! Better than that, I know we will! |

... so WHEN were you in Europe last ... Is there a reason why you seem to be avoiding the question? LMAO, Can you tell I'm a proud American? That's how we are, we fight and bicker among ourselves all day but when it comes down to it we are all American and will defend her to the gills! I am trying to do it civil like. I hope I haven't offended you. I will always have a soft spot in my soul for Europe. I guess that comes from helping to defend her! I left in "84." I haven't been avoiding it, but I dont see where it matters. I realize things have changed since the wall fail, but at the same time in some ways they've gotten worse. Im esp disappointed that the British wont put more effort into the EU. I thought it would be a done deal by now! I heard they were talking about making travel across borders easier, but I dont think they have yet. Have they? I know terrorism is 10 times more a concern than in 84, and it was pretty bad then. It's a lot worse than here that's for sure! Most Americans dont even think about it really. I dont care what Bush or the press says. It just isnt a big fear among the people! |

We and the press probably to give off a worse impression about our problems here than what they really are.
That's what I mean when I say we dont mind airing out our dirty laundry, but that's how we work them out too. It doesnt do any good to stay quiet about them. If you do they just tend to fester until you really do have a big problem. Somebody ****ed up when they gave us free speech. (JK) Now we wont shut up! |

Like Fanta, Europe is great for a visit and though there are some places I wouldn't mind living in, there is no place like home. True Europeans see the news and assume that this VERY LARGE country is what they see on TV. Pretty narrow minded comment if you ask me.I have never been to Central Park and like the majority of Americans will never see it. Don't care to. I spent 8 months in England and loved it! The people were great and the area I was in was beautiful. Never toured London though and I don't care to. Same with Paris. To me all large cities are the same. A gathering place of too many body parts and most of them are assholes. Yeah, Germany isn't perfect either Fanta but you have to admit it is beautiful, even if they have no sense of humor. Of the 19 countries I have visited I can say there are three that did little for me. Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt. But even they had some interesting qualities. Come on Glenn, let's go to Ireland where we can sit in a pub and enjoy a REAL Guinness. |

Now now people, calm down...
I miss London! I miss the Tube, I miss the fish n chips, I miss the BEER, I miss the way no matter where I went people would stare because of how I talk. I miss the fact that I say 'house' different than Americans and I even miss the dodgy bits in North and East London where I was accosted by Chavs. I cannot WAIT to go back next year! Spain is nice too. Avoid Gibraltar and those evil monkeys though. |

Unlike you I did go to London and Paris. I went to many parts of both France and England. No I didn't see it all, but when I had time I would go the Bahnhof and travel to different parts of Europe! Man what a great transportation system they have. Aye? I've been to Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Italy, France, England, and of course Germany. I got on the wrong train once and I was left standing by the track 3 mile from the Checkloslavakian border! LMAO Come to find out the USSR didn't want American military Personnel there during the Cold War! Like you I dont much care for Cities. |
