my daughter is a very sound sleeper so i have to moniter how much water she takes in about two hours before bed....works for us....and i read 12 % of children wet the bed til they are five years old.... weve tried that, she doesnt drink after 7pm, and she goes to bed about 10.30 to 11pm That's a late bedtime, IMO. I forgot to mention that there are meds to decrease urine production at night. I didn't use them. I didn't like the side affects. |

Also, it is important to not make them feel uncomfortable about it. Let her know that it is okay. They are already ashamed and embarrassed and know that they are different. My child was so embarrassed that my child wouldn't go on sleepovers for years. It broke my heart. ive already said in this thread, i just hugged her and kissed her this morning and i said it doesnt matter angel, and she was fine. shes embaressed enough as it is, i want to make her feel better, id never make her feel worse. |

Well i have tried things like that. hes has gone poop on the potty but now he refuses. Ill put him on the potty and he will just sit there and cry. So I finally put him back in his pants and while I'm not looking he then poops his pants. I put mine on the potty after every meal. Then we did a silly, "You went poo poo on the potty" song and dance. I kept a large piece of computer paper taped to the bathroom door. And everytime the deed was done, a sticker went on that paper. Part of the fun, too, was shopping for stickers. |

I have a 3year old and she just turned 3 in May...........she actually potty trained herself at 2 1/2 and i think to this day she has peed on the bed once and she didnt like it and so she hasnt......................but I know my niece who has been a bed wetter practically all her life is still peeing in bed at the age of 12......... you shouldnt get frustrated, its not her fault, there could be something wrong, has she saw a doctor?? Yeah and I think there is some emotional issues going on.............but I also think it gets her the attention she lacks...............since she has two younger brothers.........im not sure but its pretty gross though...............and dang unhealthy (hygenitically) speaking............. My child's urologist said that the urine was not unsanitary. It is not an attention getter. It's not emotional, it's phsycial. They don't do it on purpose. They are sleeping. |

Well I feel so bad because the potty is hard and leaves marks on his butt. So I imagine it must hurt after sometime. I usally leave him on it about 30min and then fell bad and let him off. Is that wrong? why dont you try him on the toilet?? theres little tiny seats you put on the toilet so they can sit on it Yes, there are soft ones. And a picture book to read while sitting there for 15 minutes is good. |

My son wet his bed until he was about 4 or 5...constant routine worked in his case.
Absolutely no liquids after 6 pm , at least 2 or 3 times before going to sleep we made him go to the bathroom or at least try. If he woke during the night we helped him immediately to go potty. Encouraging him the whole time. We lined his mattress with plastic (a cut up fitted garbage bag taped down worked great) and rewards when he made it through the night for being a bigboy. Consistantsie works as long as nothing is medically wrong....good luck! |

Debbie,
If she does this all of the time, I'm surprised that her parents don't have her wearing big-kid pull-ups. That saves on washing bed lines everyday and she doesn't have to sleep in the wetness. |

My mother would set the alarm and wake up to take her to the bathroom at 2am each morning and kept two night lights on in our bedroom as well as one in the hall and one in the bathroom...so when she took her into the bathroom, she kept the lights off and allowed her to become comfortable with the house in dim lighting...fear was gone very quickly...bed wetting and trouble falling asleep stopped. |

No leaking. The leaking might be due to the brand. Another thing that could help is to wake the child and have them to go the bathroom when you go to bed. |
