i dont think it really matters whether it was prescription or not, but for the sake of argument it was both, but the person is completely clean and has been for a few years

I think if someone is quick to judge you based on your past mistakes, chances are you aren't the only one they judge. These people are hypocrites. Also they probably aren't just judging people with previous drug related issues. Within their so-called perfect existence is something a little more deeply rooted. They are insecure and bringing others down is a way to make themselves feel superior. In reality they just feel inferior. and along that line, some people are quick to judge when they are covering up(or don't want reminders) of their own guilt. |

That sort of depends. I don't think it defines them as a bad person, just someone who had a bad habit at one point in their life. What would determine if I considered being in a relationship with them (friend or otherwise) would be if they continued with that bad habit and how long ago they had "quit". If it was only a few months ago, I might keep talking to them, but would stay reserved...just because history has taught me that a few months does not mean they have officially kicked the habit. If it was years ago, by all means. Obviously they've quit and havn't gone back to it.

Gosh, I am a smoker and I know that is a drug. Who am I to judge? It's a matter of degrees really, isn't it??? I've been judged and dismissed in relationships for being a smoker. Nicotine is a drug!
