This is an incredible story Poet and Karma. Love to read more as the
prophecy continues...

Finally, this is it the last installment. We've gone full circle from
the two poems that started this. 'Walks with Wind' and 'Gray Wolf'. Hope
you enjoy.

Gray Wolf - Destiny


The pack has grown strong
There's prey aplenty
I've watched her grow
My time draws near
The wounds too many
I hear destiny's call
Time for another to lead
Another to guide
I won't fight again
My pack is safe here
I leave under silver moon
Howl to the call I hear
I must prepare the way
For she will follow soon
I maim some of the prey
Finding food she should not fear
Clear trail I leave
That she may follow
Avoiding bear and cougar
Snarling warning to coyote
Howling greetings to brothers
Lay path to watered hollow
Doubling back that I may follow
Enter the land of stones
Prey and water hard to find
I see where I'll howl my last
Where I shall leave my bones
The place where I was born
Her voice again I hear
"I'm not afraid when you are near"
Cold nights, she has no pelt
Lay and give warmth beside her
Awakening without sound
To lay known path upon known ground
I climb to high ground
Howl a greeting, cry a warning
I have returned to my home
Gray Wolf has returned

~And So It Begins~
The sun rises breaking the nights cover
I rise from my sleeping furs
Clutching the bundle close to me
Reaching for the spear
Today is the day
I know must leave
I hear his call in the wind
Telling me its time
My heart sinks
Knowing this is our last journey
His time must come to an end
He is at the edge of my village
I can see him waiting
Watching over me
As he has done for so long
Shaman comes to me
"Come girl it is time
You must prepare"
I follow him to the kiva
Going down below the ground
In the sacred space
I gather all that I need
Shaman takes me by the hand
Leading me to the hill to the east
Atop as the wind blows
Softly across our faces
And he whispers into the wind
"And her name shall be Walks With Wind
The prophecy she will bring
So she is named
So it shall be"
Red dust blows in the wind
Gritty in my eyes and teeth
Scent of juniper fills the air
Sitting upon the rock
Waiting
A crack of thunder fills my ears
Lightening arcing across the sky
Brilliant purples and pinks
Scent of rain mixing with the juniper
I close my eyes
Clutching the sacred bundle to my chest
Spear clutched in my hand
Waiting
I hear Shaman in the kiva below
Singing for the spirits
Father standing back weeping
"Must it be so"
He cries out in the night
Mother comforting him
"It is her destiny
You must let her be
For she is the prophecy"
I look back at them
And my heart stops
Aching to be a child again
I rise and face the east
Muttering silent prayers........

I don't know if this is acceptable. I have been digging through old poetry. This piece I found to be a beautiful collaboration between two people. It touches me and I can feel all it conveys. Very good.
