How do you deal with a friend or friends that is/are depressed? Do you find that spending time with someone depressed brings you down? I let them know I'm there for them. I listen to them when they need someone to talk to. I do what I can to help them overcome their depression. |

How do you deal with a friend or friends that is/are depressed? Do you find that spending time with someone depressed brings you down? Be supportive. A clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. One cannot help that. Look up the top ten signs of depression. It is good to be educated about the signs of suicidal thinking. Yes, it can bring you down. So what? You are able to bounce back up again. |

Sometimes it is situational depression, caused by a particular event, i.e a divorce, a death, job loss etc. Those things often get better in time and talking things out, sometimes over and over.

Encourage them to get the help they need for sure, try to be there for them when they need someone to talk to and be patient...it could be you one day. No one has a free pass on depression.
