I had an email from a man named Ron from Tenn last night. He's widowed and I told him about this thread. Hopefully he will come down and join us too.

Well...it's still good! This is a tough week for me. Friday is the anniversary of husband's death so...I'm bracing now. It will be ok Connie sad but ok. Do you go to the cemetary on that day?Sometimes doing that just made me feel worse , and other years really needed to do it .

Yeah I don't think I missed a year the first hand full or so. I didn't go on any of my significant dates in 06 after I lost my mother on Valentines Day which was his birthday. I find it too difficult to go to his grave on V. D for the day he was born, and drive to another one to hers, because it's the day she died. It's just too hard. I may go..it just depends how I feel. I have learned though in the last couple of years that I'm not a horrible person if I choose not to go on those days.

You are so right Connie ..you should not feel guilty if you just can,t go. bTW I think Valentines day is one you shouldn,t use initals for v.D.
