Sir Issac Newton, Newton laid the ground work out for the theory of realitivy....Einstein just crossed the T's and dotted the I's. Newton was a giant, and is regarded by most in the scientific community as the greatest scientist of all time. But to say that all Einstein did was dot the I's and cross the T's is taking away from what he did. Newtonian physics has been found to be somewhat just a rough sketch of reality, and that was due largely in part to relativity. Relative Physics is inherently impossible for the average person to grasp, and there's a reason why. Cause Einstein was a monster. But I agree, if you asked Einstein who was greater, he'd defer to Newton in a heartbeat. Of course his "law" of gravitation was a bit off

A LOT of not most of Hawking's foundation came from the theories and findings of Einstein. Einstein's inspiration came from others before him. Copernicus, Galileo, Da Vinci. Who's to say? Tesla, Edison, Curie, they were all genuises in their own right. Without giving the guy in the wheelchair and the dead guy IQ tests, how would you know? Furthermore, once you reach that level of brilliance, an IQ point here or there really doesn't count. They both make all of us look like monkeys tossing poo at the wall. Dont forget Plato & Aristotle
