To me - an occassional smoker smokes less than half a pack a day. This was my thought, too.

I would like to say something about smoking. I am an occassional smoker, btw. Before my child, I was a pack a day smoker. I plan, soon, to be a non-smoker. My child needs me. My father was a smoker until he was 59 years old. He is now 70 years old and healthy except for what smoking did to him. I love this man dearly. He gave me some news last night. Six months ago the doctors told him that he has severe COPD. Now he has chronic bronchitis. He is going downhill. 
If he hadn't smoked all of those years, he would be healthy now. He is very down about this. He wanted to be around longer for his wife, me, and his grandchild. im so sorry 
im going to quit smoking soon to, because im a asthmatic and im scared of getting lung cancer. so in a few weeks im stopping!

No, Debbie. He's going to die from it. That is what I meant by saying that he was going downhill. My Great Aunt died from COPD from smoking too. It was painful to see the pain that she was in and I dread the fact that my father will have to go through that.

i would class a occasional smoker, to be a social smoker, like going to the pub a few times a week and having a few fags

To me - an occassional smoker smokes less than half a pack a day. half a pack? thats like saying if you only drink 2 or 3 beers a day your an occasionally drinker, if you do it on a daily basis its more then occasional. ok your right htat doesnt make u a drinker nor does smoking one cigarette a day make you a smoker but sumthing u do on a daily basis no matter what it is, would be somthing you do more then occasionally It is letting people know that you don't smoke like a chimney or chain smoke. ok thats understandable i just dont think "occasionally" is the right word There isn't a "I smoke a third of a pack a day" option.

I only smoke when I see stupid people...and I work in a convienant store, so I have a lot of people to make up for.

He lit his cigarette before he got into the car. That poor child was in the car with the windows closed while the man smoked. For crying out loud, the man could have smoked while he was outside walking to the car.

Smokers are like animals now, we sit in a cage and parents walk by with their kids and stare at our gnarling teeth and claim to their children "you don't want to grow up like that monster, do you Charles?". |

I only smoked some in my teens. I have good friends that smoke but I stand back from them. I try to be respectful of them and they of me. Stuff makes me want to barf. We all have habits, though.

Smokers are like animals now, we sit in a cage and parents walk by with their kids and stare at our gnarling teeth and claim to their children "you don't want to grow up like that monster, do you Charles?". my favorite is at the amusement park...they now have roped off areas for smokers...which i dont understand cuz the whole place is outside but whatever...last summer i was sitting in the little area with a few other ppl, and this lady walks by and goes...look sweetie its the smoking zoo.... the lady sitting next to me, glares at the lady and goes..dont pet the smokers we bite.. i had to laugh |

As an occasional smoker myself...I have to say...It sucks. Im convinced I cant get a date because Im fat and I smoke. And Im not that fat, Im a sz 12 and I litterally smoke maybe 1 cigarette a day, if that. I know, why smoke at all you ask...because I have the urge to smoke more, but Im really trying to ditch them all together. And Im hitting the gym more and skating harder.

Smoked since I was 12, and stopped when I was preggo three times. Stopped again for 9 mo, then again for 2 yrs. Started back up in 06, and quit again 13 days ago. I have COPD, chronic brochitis, asthma and my gramma is dying of it. her dad had it as well and smoked till the day he died when he was 96. That I just don't understand. I never intend on touching another cig as long as I live but I will never ever scold anyone who smokes either. Just as there are considerate smokers, there are considerate non-smokers. Intolerance stinks as much as cig smoke.
