I had this same problem once and the problem that the memory card needed to be formatted for the computer to recognize it. Only problem is, that when you format the memory card(in the camera) it deletes all the pictures. A local place that develops film should be able to recover the pictures off the card and give you a cd, so that you won't lose all the pictures. It cost only a few dollars, but it's better than losing the pictures!

Hope that helps!

Another solution, is to go to the website of the manufacturer of the memory card and download the driver that supports that particular memory card. If the camera is that ancient and your PC is newer, this could be the case. This has also happened to me with Sony memory stick.

Hope that helped as well!

the thing is that my friend that gave it to me downloaded the pics with no disk so is a disk really needed?

huh

You shouldn't need a disk. If your PC has a memory card reader. Did you see my other suggestion?

If your still having trouble, email me the brand and model and I'll he you look up a solution. If you want.
