Because I can say that. I feel sorry for the wife. And with that many children, the parents aren't raising them. The other children are. Not a great life to lead IMO.

The Duggars live about 2 hours from me and what a house they have...and the mother home schools are the children....what some patience that lady has...

I have to agree, it's the way it works in my sisters house since both parents work...the older kids are the parents the majority of the time there. I don't think it's fair to them.

I can't believe 19 kids, me and my six siblings were too many and we didn't live under the same roof.

my mom came from a family of 16 plus 5 step kids. =21 total

Well, I guess they're lucky that your opinion doesn't mean anything. It always amazes me that someone can say something like, "jeez, they need to be steralized." about a situation that has absolutely no impact on them whatsoever. Their large family is in no way affecting your life or existence. Yet, you feel it would be proper to force sterilization upon them. Just because you couldn't imagine living in a family that large doesn't mean others can't.

As for, "the parents aren't raising them. The other children are.", I highly doubt that. And there is nothing wrong with asking each and every family member to participate in the running of a family. It isn't just mom and dad's job to make sure things run smoothly around the house. The older kids have their responsibilities, too.

So, before you go around trying to force your views on someone that doesn't deserve it, get a life and let them live theirs.

calm down there... She wasn't forcing views on anyone. For starters her comment was probably intended more for humor than anything. Although she brought up some good points as you have. As far as having 19 children, yes it is our right to have as many as we want. It may not be the most responsible thing for the family, nor the environment, but it is still up to the parents. Anyway, i really didn't see her as attacking anyone. If that were Hellkitten's intent she probably would have gone off on a rant much like someone else on here. Anyhow, opinions are opinions and none of ours matter. Sorry if you were offended.

Actually saying anyone needs to be sterilized is a prejudice statement and should not be said about anyone, ever. JMO

WOW, my great grandparents would have been proud of them. They had 12 kids to work the farm. 19 would have worked well.

For the record, i never said i had a problem with it. Providing they can fend for themselves withouth needed any financial aid or anything. There is no problem unless having 19 kids becomes common. Or parenting all the children becomes too much for the parents to handle.

Maybe she just needs to get a big shoe, Robin. I remember reading about this old lady who lived in a shoe. She had so many children she didn't know what to do.
