Oh my God, is Bush finally doing something I agree with?

Well, this feels rather odd. Someone pinch me...

But seriously, 300 BILLION? Are you fracking me? The credit crunch is already about to exceed one trillion, and now they want to spend over a quarter of a trillion for bail outs? This is fracking insanity. The amount of liquidity that will pour into the market will be absurd, and the dollar will be further devalued. Sure, people's mortgage will go down a thousand dollars, TOO BAD that goods and general services will cost three fold by the time this is implemented.

Seriously, someone pinch me.

For years people have been making money by buying and then selling real estate as fast as they could. They didnt care about anything but getting rich. They gathered in their country clubs, patting each other on their backs, bragging as to how smart they were and how stupid the were the people that now you see cant afford the shady loans that put them there.
I'll guarantee you the ones in the country clubs havent lost a penny. When the economy goes to hell they are retiring fat and sassy, set for life!

Oh, BS. There is nothing wrong with people making investments, and lack of personal responsibility aside, how is a successful person RESPONSIBLE for the behaviors of a lender and borrower outside of their own assets? If you can't read the fine print taking out a loan or a mortgage, then sincerely, frack you, I'm not paying for your naive economic behavior. Not with all the risks and hard work I've done to secure MY investments, and provide for my own well being.

No war, 2.7 billion over 5 years...

What the hell is that supposed to mean? The war happened; I don't like it anymore than you do, and I've made my opinions well known on this forum about our fracked up foreign policy. It's a reality that we now need to live with, and I'm not talking blood, I'm talking treasure to. NEVER justify bad behavior with worse behavior.

300 billion is the FHA's investment. They should make a profit if it works right!

Oh I see, so forget about inflation and liquidity; as long as the FHA makes out, everything is a-okay!

You know what. The Clinton's were indicted for doing a similar thing in Ark years ago. Before Bill became President. (ironic isnt it)

I hate typing, and this goes against my fun dogging the Republicans, but for you. Because you are young enough that you may not remember.

The Whitewater controversy (also called the Whitewater scandal, or often simply Whitewater) was an American political controversy that began with the real estate dealings of Bill and Hillary Clinton and their associates, Jim and Susan McDougal in the Whitewater Development Corporation, a failed business venture in the 1970s and 1980s.

The tax-payer bailed these loan companies out too.

Fanta,

It's encouraging to see you unmask the Clinton cult of personality.

Susan McDougal took the fall for the Clintons and went to jail, similar to what Scooter Libby did for Bush Jr. and Cheney.

Hillary Clinton is ruthless, she will pander to anyone in her pursuit of the White House.

Even the idiot sheep dittoheads who follow the marching orders of their Fuhrer, Rush Limbaugh, and vote for Hillary, just because they hate Obama and want to prolong the Clinton-Obama fight.

She race-baits when she makes statements like:

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

Wink. Inference: Blacks are not hard-working.

Source: USA Today

Rev. Wright, indeed.

But I think her arrogance and those of the dittoheads will backfire. Once Obama gets the nomination, he will be properly vetted against smears and attacks made against him.

Then he can debate John McCain on the issues, and hopefully, they will both take the high road.

Good news,
The House approved a housing rescue plan today by a vote of 266-154, with 39 Republicans!

Now Master Bush the mighty and wise President promises a Veto.
This bill would drop some peoples monthly mortgage payments from $2200 a month to $1200, and without doing the math (I have no idea) could possibly put more money back into the economy than all Bushes tax rebates, (which is just printed money) and put confidence into a shell shocked public!

I keep hearing from the Republicans how it is the Democrats fault that the economy is failing. Well here it is the proof that Bush and the Republicans are tying their hands, making it impossible for them to do anything.

My prediction- Bush will Veto, and then the House, with only a slim majority, will not be able to muster enough votes to override the Veto. Then later the Republicans will come out and say, The Democrats have a majority and still do nothing. Its their fault, why blame Bush and the Republicans!!

What do you think?

Please feel free to cuss me. I'll just laugh.........

You accidentally on purpose, forget that it could be that there is the TYPICAL democrat 'pork barrel' clauses stuck into this bill that our President Bush does not approve of.

You know what they say, buyer beware. It is up to the purchaser to make sure they can afford what they are buying, not the seller. If the loans are shady, don't take them.

I guess what bothers me, is that it was somehow okay to bail out banks that made the mistake of lending to "high" risk borrowers, but it's not okay to bail out the homeowners?

If you're gonna bail out a market (totally against any inept Government meddling in any market) you should bail out the whole market, not just Member banks of the Federal reserve.

I feel President Bush did not vetoe enough bills. Reason I think was a mistake? TOO MUCH PORK BARREL was attached to each bill presented so as to get the bill passed. Subsequently, a ton of money could have been saved if it were not for the 'favor owed' pork barrel jibberish.

FANTA, you really do not understand the 'whys' of a veto, do you? You never look into the records and see WHY a bill was vetoed do you? i.e., pork barrell shoved into the bill.

List of United States presidential vetoes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia•

The word veto does not appear in the United States Constitution, but Article I requires every bill, order, resolution or other act of legislation by the Congress of the United States to be presented to the President of the United States for his approval. When the President is presented the bill, he can either sign it into law, return the bill to the originating house of Congress with his objections to the bill (a veto), or neither sign nor return it to Congress after having been presented the bill for ten days exempting Sundays (if Congress is still in session, the bill becomes a law; otherwise, the bill does not become a law and is considered a pocket veto). The list below contains many of the bills vetoed and pocket vetoed by Presidents.

I am only going to make a few comparisons President Bush's Vetos and Bill Clinton's vetoes:

President Bush:
Regular vetoes 8
Pocket Vetoes 1
For a total of ONLY 9 vetoes
Vetoes overridden 1

Bill Clinton:
Regular vetoes 36
Pocket vetoes 1
Total vetoes 37
Overridden vetoes 2

George W. Bush Vetoes (Please note that only 1 veto was ever overridden. And why were the rest not vetoed? Not enough votes meaning democrats and Republican alike both House and/or Senate agreed with President Bush's vetoes of a bill!!)

1. July 19, 2006: Vetoed H.R. 810, Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005, a bill to ease restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Override attempt failed in House, 235-193 (286 needed).

2. May 1, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 1591, U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act, 2007. Override attempt failed in House, 222-203 (284 needed). A later version of the bill that excluded certain aspects of the initial legislation that the President disapproved of, H.R. 2206, was enacted as Pub.L. 110-28 with the President's approval.

3. June 20, 2007: Vetoed S. 5, Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007.

4. October 3, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 976, Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007 ("SCHIP"). Override attempt failed in House, 273-156 (286 votes needed).

5. November 2, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 1495, Water Resources Development Act of 2007. Overridden by House, 361-54 (277 votes needed). Overridden by Senate, 79-14 (62 needed), and enacted as Pub.L. 110-114 over President's veto.

6. November 13, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 3043, Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2008. Override attempt failed in House, 277-141 (279 votes needed).

7. December 12, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 3963, Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007[18]. Override attempt failed in House, 260-152 (275 votes needed).

8. December 28, 2007: Pocket Vetoed H.R. 1585, National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008[19]

9. March 8, 2008: Vetoed H.R. 2082, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008.[20] [21]. Override attempt failed in House, 225-188

I am not posting Clinton's vetoes as it seems to be meaningles to the left wing libbers. They are quite capable of going to Wikepedia and seraching themselves.

Plus, I have entered enough information as this post is directed towards President George W. Bush.

It also doesn't limit what banks qualify war. It says all loaners who wish to participate.

Your missing the whole point of this thread anyway, and that is,

The Hypocrites (Republicans) that continue to say that a Democrat majority House and Senate are responsible for the current economic conditions, and do nothing to remedy the problem.

First here is proof both that they do try and an example of why their efforts fail.

Also the hypocrites (Republicans) ignore and never mention the fact that the Democrats just did, 2 years ago, gain a majority and that it is not a strong enough majority to override their God Bush and his band of merry cronies Veto's!

End point, the current administration is a joke, 68% already know this, and are single handed responsible for the condition of America today.

Of course, the sheeple people will never acknowledge this, and are probably already looking towards the jester Bush for guidance!laugh laugh laugh laugh
