Ok I have been reading the forums for about 2 weeks now and I notice one thing disturbing. This is a dating site, but so many of the lovely ladies and attractive men here say they have been looking for a while for someone. Something strikes me as odd about that. Why do you think this is? Could it be because people have unrealistic expectations?

Strong-mentally-physically-emotionally

oh and most importantly...puts up with me....

Honestly... the reason I hear the most (and that applies for me) is distance. The internet opens us up to people all over the globe.. folks we normally would not meet. Traditionally, we would meet people near where we live.. thus making it easier to begin & maintain a relationship.

For many of us, our lives are emmeshed.. homes, children, jobs, careers, etc.. This is a big factor why some relationships never materialize.

Some people are looking for something closer to home. Many are not on here to find their soulmate. Lots of people here have become friends but when they say "still looking" they may not be talking about this site in particular. Does any of that make sense? I need more coffee

It's difficult when the people who might be compatible with you are all 897,000 miles away -- and you can't make any determinations about people who are closer, because they won't talk to you at all.

It took me awhile to understand that the type of person who would interest me, does not use dating sites. That doesn't mean someone more suitable won't show up here tomorrow -- but if they do, the overwhelming likelihood is that they will be strictly a lurker, never post a thing, and I will never even know they are on here.

Expectations are to be written off for me, as long as they have a fantastic personality and are intelligent. I have an expectation that I'm yet to find, have to be from another planet...still looking for that one.

How quickly do you think people should find the right one? It's easy to find "someone". But I want the one who is right for me, and if I never find him, oh well. It's better than wasting my time with someone who isn't right for me.
