Topic: Who Do You Think You Are | |
---|---|
In almost all the profiles i read, in the 50 and over group, they like holding hands, rock "n" roll music, and long walks on the beach. Give me a break, i'm 58yo and holding hands i can handle, but listening to rock "n" roll gives me a head ache. And long walks on the beach are out of the question. After about five minutes of tromping through that deep sand someone would have to call 911 for me. I consider myself an average 58yo, am i the only one in the world that enjoys peace & quite. I think a lot of these folks are describing who they were 20 years ago, or maybe who they would like to be.

I'm 60 years old and I listen to Rock'n'Roll and I walk along the beach for miles. I'll get all the peace and quiet I want when I'm dead but for now...Long live Rock'n'Roll!

Ahhh, Jerry!
You're breaking my heart! I can walk for miles on the beach and LOVE it! You only have to go through the deep sand till you get down to the shore line...then the walking is easy! The shore/beach/ocean has always been a restorative environment for me. And rock & roll? Well, maybe not 'head banging', 'hip-hop' or 'rap' music, but I love a lot of the newer stuff...not a classic or 'lite' rock girl here! Check out the Pittsburgh independent radio station, WYEP 91.3, on-line. All kinds of music from blues on Fri/Sat evenings tobluegrass to alternative rock. The weekend shows on WYEP are not my favorites, but during the week it is great! Peace and quiet? Plenty of that if I need it...I'm going to live until I die! |

I don't listen to rock and roll very much - I prefer rap and reggae, sometimes trip-hop or techno.
I like to take long walks up mountains. Being over 50 does not mean sitting in a chair knitting. |

Oh and, Jerry? Good luck winning ladies with that negative attitude.
You come in here and right away start judging us and asking us who we think we are? Manners, dude. |

WTH???? Just because I am over 50 doesn't make me a candidate for the grandma's wheel chair or rocking chair racer club. I like Rock N Roll, I like foot stomping country...I like all kinds of music and walking on the beach. I might do it at a slower pace then say my 20 or 30 year counterparts but I still do all the things I did before.

By gosh... he'd really get a big headache with me. I also listen to bluegrass and country. And I like it loud.

A day without music is like a day without sunshine! my neighbor said "call me when you get home, ah, nevermind, I will hear you thumping down the road" And I bought myself a new Bose system for Chrismas..concert level sound... |
