what im trying to say is if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound Actually the ear is more like a receiver that picks up the sound, the sound is a vibration through the air. |

If a man speaks in the forest and no woman is there to hear it, is he still wrong???

Do you believe in the "Big Bang Theory"? yes BIG BANG was actually a very quiet event. There is NO ATMOSPHERE in outer space therefore it happened in complete silence. If it's silent.....someone's not BIG BANGIN right. |

If a tree falls and no one is there how do we know it fell? Since trees don't walk...we know it wasn't tripped. Where is the evidence that the tree fell? Surely if no one was there to hear it, then no one was there to see it, so we must conclude that the tree (if it even existed) never fell just an observation..... No, you can't have sound without an audio detector of some sort...now if you placed a micorphone in the forest there would be a sound recorded. But, who really wants to hear a tree fall in the forest? I would rather hear the breeze blowing its leaves in the wind and two heart beats pounding softly as I walk hand in hand along a trail with a good friend. ![]() ![]() |

I have to answer yes to this one. Cause and effect are only one reason but I'll stop there.

Totage is actually the most accurate in his observations and assessments...
Sound is defined by the different vibrations(frequencies) transmitted through the air. A sound is made regardless of whether or not anyone or anything is there which is capable of hearing it. If you were completely deaf, and you dropped a spoon, it would make a sound regardless of whether or not you heard it. Think about blowing a dog whistle... Just because there is no animal around which is capable of perceiving those vibrations does not make those vibrations non-existent. If a tree falls, vibrations are made. |
