On another site- I was IMing a guy, single dad of a 6 year old daughter. Sounded nice, then he said he was moving that he was helping his daughter's mother out, but now can be on his own.
I said- "so you are currently living with your ex?" He stated she was not his ex- an old best friend that he made a mistake with and now will always be there for her. I said- "whoa, always be there?? emotional or support with $$?" He stated both because she has a multiple personality disorder. So I told him- We are not a match....... He then started to tell me I was shallow because I was giving up the most amazing man I would ever meet and how all his friends tell him how outstanding he is. When I said great, but I would be happy to be a friend, but we are not a match. He went into this feel sorry for me thing and told me about how he worked since he was 12 etc... have I ever been lit on fire. I said...lit on fire no, but sexually abused, attempted murder- yeah. Most of us do overcome tramatic struggles. So Mister Amazing called me a waste of time. Was I wrong? Heartless? I never understood when someone said do not have baggage...I thought we all had baggage...but geezzzz |

I never understood when someone said do not have baggage...I thought we all had baggage...but geezzzz Yep. Better off. Dated a guy for a while that was kinda similar. He didn't live with her, but he would drop everything and anything if she needed help with anything. Talk about time to cut the apron strings with the ex's. Should never have to play second fiddle to an ex. |

I have been in a similar situation. He said no I did not understand his situation. I said the key word is similar, that I know I could not say exact. OMG--- |

Yeah funny, apparently these kinda people are a dime a dozen... lol

That is not lack of compassion; that is self-preservation. You had every right. And I don't know of a single person over 30 who doesn't have SOME kind of baggage (although some more than others).
