I think the operative word with this guy is "story" he's looking for sympathy and probably making up 99% of what he is telling you. This guy is probably some old pervert that has created a persona to get sympathy. They can seem surpriseingly real even produceing pictures and addresses that will check out on a "snoop" search. To them it is like a game of chess. The ultimate reward is how they try to get you to tell him the sex details of your "past" experiences because it gets him off. Or later they try to use it to blackmail you. He is mad because your good instincts are telling you he is a JERK. Don't second guess yourself. You are too nice a person to let anyone make you question if you are treating them compassionately. I think I would have told him off. Either way stick by your little guardian angel voice that helped you dodge a bullet.

Well, can say if you made a mistake there or not. Unfortunately the only way to get that wisdom (as it is with most wisdom) is to go forward to see if it is a mistake.

Having said that - I have learned to really trust my instincts on most things. It has kept me out of more troubles than I could conveniently count, and quite literally kept me alive.

So in this case, if you think you are hearing shuffling sounds in the dark alley, unless you *really* want to find out for sure - go with the instinct that tells you bad things lie that way.
