Topic: how does one "date"? | |
---|---|
Hi sweetie. I am on question #2 out of 5 (including a three part one) and it's due at midnight and yet I feel the need to check on you.. I never understood why guys were supposed to pay, honestly. I guess I am no lady. Plus I never go on dates, so.... Hey (((((Hiker))))). Did you mean "check me"? I don't think guys are "supposed" to pay. I think if they are happy and willing to pay for the first date, it's indicative of their character. I mostly took issue with his statement that if the lady expects the guy to pay, she's a gold-digger. And, as much as you'd like to deny it, you are a lady to me You are a woman of integrity, among other fabulous attributes (sorry - don't mean to tarnish your image ). Now, get your butt back to work, young lady!!!! I love you - and your little dog (waterloo) too!! |

Yes, it sounds like a ridiculous question, but honestly, I'm clueless. I went from a 3-year relationship with someone who started out as a good friend, straight into a 4.5-year relationship with someone who I thought was my best friend... who subsequently cheated on me numerous times. Never married... and never really 'dated'! And now I find myself feeling empowered to be single, and clueless at the same time. I look upon women who meet lots of people & go out on numerous dates with both admiration & envy. How do I become one of them? Pft, when you find out, please... enlighten me as well. My best friend is one of those. Guys flock to her, but she has never managed to stay in a relationship for more than 6 months. Me on the other hand, I am the shy one. I have been in several relationships, all very serious and usually long. No idea what dating is though lol. |

Dating rule #1...NEVER OFER TO PAY!!! That is all wrong. Why would you say that. I dated a Gold Digger and she never offered to pay either. Are you looking for someone to take care of you? Are you a user. This is modern society. What is see is a one way sign. Expecting a man to pay for the first date doesn't necessarily mean one is a gold-digger, for heaven's sake. Perhaps, she's looking for a gentleman who would be honored to pay for dinner for a lady. Hi sweetie. I guess I am no lady. Plus I never go on dates, so.... The way I read the statement was to "never pay." So I guess I would ask, does that mean never as in never ever throughout all the time "they" date. Yes that's gold digging. I know as a gentleman that usually the man will pay especially on the first date. Even furtherly if he asks her out. If it goes the other way, well then who asks should pay but to say never. That's gold digging. After the first one to three dates, she should want to pay for something. |

Hiker, Baby, what's up? This is a touchy thread. I don't like these based on my life experiences. Let's just go out and have some fun. I know you roll like that.

good advice Solestria...i was thinking along the same lines...just be yourself and think about whether you like your date not what they think about you, cause you don't need to impress....the more natural you can be the more relaxed you'll be and things will take their course...whatever that may be....don't worry about it...

Anyone who argues that needs a reality check. I don't expect the guy to pay for the first date, but there won't be a second one where I will pay if he doesn't. It's a test of character on my part. |

Dont be fooled, it's not the quantity of men, it's the quality of men Word. I tend to be very picky about who I'll date, but generally, the men I date are REALLY good people. My recent ex is one of my best friends for exactly that reason. |
