so congress just blindly accepted everything??? There are very few in Congress with the security clearance to view the evidence required to make an informed decision on something like the war in Iraq! They must rely on honesty when presented with the facts. In this case those facts were doctored up lies! That is illegal, unless you live in under a dictatorship! We dont!!! This is the United States of America! For us to be a Gov of the people by the people we, or at least our eleted representation (congress), must receive honest information in which to act on! What do you call suppression of the truth (censorship), political dissent, suspension of habeas corpus, due process and ignorance of the Geneva Convention but a dictatorship, all of which has happened under the Bush Administration? They all happened? I must have be absent for a few years. Censorship? Have you been on the internet lately or watched MSNBC, PBS, or anything of that nature? Political dissent suppressed? Have you not seen marches, protests, lunatics invading congressional proceedings to disrupt with drivel (Code Pink being great at it)? What Americans were not given rights granted unto them by the Bill of Rights and forced into prison camps? Yeah, none. Yeah, your argument crashing down in flames. |

again...when did one man get absolute power???? did we do away with the senate, house, congress, everything? i just check: 110th congress 2007-2009 49 dem / 49 rep / 1 ind / 1 ind dem house 2007-2009 233 dem / 202 rep so how did 1 president get absolute power????

They have done, IMO, the right thing. Over the last year he has become ineffective and insignificant! Hes a bad image to put before the world as the Represenative of America, but that is basically what he has become! As far as stopping the war, There was a bill last year, one, which Bush vetoed, that would have started an organized withdraw (time-table) of American soldiers and a transition of security to the Iraqi's themselves! Bush vetoed it! When it went back to congress they could not muster the two-thirds majority necessary! With an even number of Dems and Repubs They fell short! So you see even though they had enough votes to pass the bill and end the war. When it was vetoed, they couldnt get enough votes to over-ride! The Dictator and his evil crones had managed to rule the day, against the majority rules, and continue their personal war (for oil??) in Iraq! Damn Neo-Cons
