It would depend on how the friend would take it. If they can handle direct honesty, say it, if they are more sensitive, maybe try a more gentle way of telling them.

my ex's house looks like a garbage dump.

I had these friends over the summer she has 3 kids of her own and a step-son that family is nasty they leave food on the counters. They had crumbs on the floor. And their dogs dog food was on the porch and she got on it and crapped and there was dried on dog crap all over the porch and flies on the porch and had flies in the house too. NOW THAT IS VERY DISGUSTING TO LET YOUR HOUSE GET LIKE THAT!!

i have a friend when her kids were little OMG!! you wouldnt even want to walk through her house. it was so gross, i even told her including her family.. she had just got her housing and they were to come out to check her apt.. i offered to clean her house, and it took me 8hours to clean it, it was quit done but it was liveable..
there was another time i went over to her house, and she had a dang dog that was suposeto be a watch dog, he was laying on the couch and he saw me walk in he looked up and went back to sleep (he sure wasent a watch dog) i walked in her house, i found place to sit and i was going to clean up, but why it wasent my mess,,,
but i did offer a number of times just to help her out..
you figure if the kids are a asleep? you can find time to clean house

heres a true story/I moved into a place that was trashed so I'll try to sum it up




4 50 gallon barrels of dirty dishes
took me about 5 hours to wash them



23 bags of garbage taken out




everything on the floor from sauce,flour,poop and kitty litter to peanut butter,dog **** and clothes


I had to saw stuff off the floor



it took nearly 3 days to clean it..and that was the kitchen alone I just described




the whole house took about 1 month..and the garbage man had to make special trips back to the house to get more trash from me



were talking a total of about 70 bags of pure filth



so I believe its ok to tell someone they have a messy house

I could tell you stories about my ex-in-laws' house. They had seagulls pecking at piles of dirty laundry in the living room. Jerry Springer had a crew in the driveway on permanent assignment.
