When was it in order?

It was in order before someone snakelike kept coming to the Garden (forum) and tempting them to doubt God's word.

Amen!drinker

I.E.: The devil knows the Scriptures just as well as any true believer, but uses the knowledge of scripture to twist it, and to "try" to make the true believers doubt the Word of God.

Matthew 4: 5-11

2 Corinthians 2:11

2 Corinthians 11:14

------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree with MorningSong too, and espesially her final key words; "as long as there is no bashing here"--and in a Christian forum, I would have to say that would include the Scriptures from the Bible as well. flowerforyou  flowerforyou Peace be with you all!!

Oh and by the way Michael, I completely adored your parting quote by Calvin Miller. And I think that I'll have to look into checking out Randy Alcorn's book as well. Thanks for the post--it was beautiful just like you, as always!

Mirror,
I have neither proven your point for you nor am I "challenging" you. To take upon a challenge would be to embark upon a debate of the scriptures written in the Bible. That of which I will not, and can not do. My task is not to debate or even question what has been written but rather, as a Christian, to deliver its message to others and to teach those who will listen. Not to fight amongst non-believers or even other Christians who have not yet comprehended the true meaning and word of the gospel yet. Not even I will claim to know God's ultimate plan.
But I will say that Jesus will come again. We tore down His temple and He rebuilt it as He said He would in three days. And it has been promised that He will yet come again. Because you are human, as we all are, you are confined and bound to time restrictions. God has no such limitations. His time is eternal. Thus, "soon" to you and "soon" to God will naturally have very different meanings. To laugh at and scrutinize what 4christman said in reference to God's perception of time was--harsh--on your part, I believe. What he said is biblically true and accurate.
See 2 Peter 3:8
"But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day."

And again, please do not misconstrue my words as being argumentative. I am simply explaining what is biblically true. I believe that you should consider reading the book of Revelation when discussing intelligently the end days, along with your lack of faith that Jesus will return again. In holding with your misconception that Jesus did His part and will not be coming back, rather than examining the whole book of Revelation, let us simply explore a few verses from chapter 19, shall we?

"19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."

In these next six verses, (11-16) we are swept up into the triumphal entourage of redeemed saints in the heavenly procession with the King of Kings. Jesus Christ comes to make war on Satan, the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and the kings of the earth. He rides on a white horse and has on His head "many crowns." When this war with Satan is over, He becomes the absolute ruler of the earth.

Notice several things about the description of our Lord's return. First, it will be public, obvious, and not restricted to a small group. He says His coming will be like lightning that flashes from the east to the west. Everybody will see it, and there will be no hiding it. Second, He says it will occur "immediately after" the Great Tribulation. Third, His return will be accompanied by "mourning" on the part of "all the tribes of the earth" - the mourning of sadness on the part of the Jewish nation, that it so long rejected Christ as Messiah, as well as the mourning of despair on the part of the ungodly, who reject Him as King even as He appears in the sky.

Now, just as is seen in chapter four, a door opened in heaven. This opening of heaven is not to go in, but is the opening for Jesus and His followers to come out. The door to heaven has never been closed for the Christians to enter in. The "horse" symbolizes war, and the fact that it is "white", symbolizes victory. White, also, symbolizes holiness and righteousness. This tells us that this war is a holy war, and Jesus is victorious.

Just the fact that "Faithful and True" are capitalized, lets us know that this figure is God the Son who has been made Lord of Lords and King of Kings, Jesus is the Judge. He is always faithful to His promises and what He speaks is always true.

This white horse is not that of 6:2. Here the True Messiah returns in victorious conquest. He is Faithful to His Word and promises. He will fulfill the twofold role of judge and warrior. His judgment of the earth will be totally righteous (Rev. 16 v.5-7; 19 v.2; Psalms 96: v.13).

We are assured that His judgments are right. He has been sitting at the Right Hand of the Father in heaven, but now He is about to set up His kingdom here on the earth.

The most detailed description of the Second Coming was given by our Lord Himself in
Matthew 24: "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." (Matt. 24 v.27)

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Matt. 24 v. 29-31)

And let us continue...

19:12 "His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself."

"Eyes" show wisdom, and these, like "flames of fire" can see right into the soul of man.

This "fire" here speaks of purity and judgment. The crowns indicate total sovereignty and authority. The secret name expresses the mystery and greatness of the person of Christ.

There was a secret name on the stone underneath the breastplate of the high priest worn into the Holy of Holies. This was the unspeakable name of God. This name here is similar to that name. It is a name that no one knew except our Lord.

19:13 "And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God."

This is not representative of the blood Jesus shed on the cross, but is a picture of judgment, not redemption. This is the blood of his slaughtered enemies. This is not His first battle, but His last. He has fought for His people throughout redemptive history and His "war clothes" bear those stains. The blood represents the judgment of Christ's enemies.

Given in the Scriptures the word of God took on the form of flesh and dwelt among us. In the book of John, the first chapter, we read about the Word of God.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Jump down to John chapter 1 verse 14. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

We also see here, that this Word (Jesus) was, is, and always will be God the Word.

19:14 "And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean."

This is speaking of the Battle of Armageddon.

The armies may be (1) angels (Zech. 14: v.5; Matt. 26: v.53); (2) the raptured church; or (3) all the inhabitants of the heavenly Jerusalem: angels, the church, and spirits of Old Testament and Tribulation saints (Heb. 12: verses 22-24). They will share in Christ's victory and glory (Roman 8: verses 18 and 19). The linen symbolizes righteousness (v.8)

Here we see the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ following, these are the called, chosen, redeemed, the bride. The whole army is on "white horses". They have white horses, because they have overcome the devil. They are washed in the blood of the Lamb. They have on pure white linen for the righteousness of Christ. This army has been in heaven waiting for the wrath of God, on the ungodly, to be over.

19:15 "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."

The sword from His mouth depicts judgment through His spoken Word. The Bible says that it is so sharp that it can divide the soul and spirit.

Hebrews 4: v.12 "For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Words relating to wrath and anger are found 15 times in Revelation. We see how powerful this Word is. This "rod of iron" that He is to rule with just means that His law is absolute and unwavering. He never changes.

When we see this "treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath", This wrath of God is for three and a half years of Tribulation, then after those, another three and a half years that is called the Great Tribulation, making a total of seven years of God's Judgment and Wrath.

19:16 "And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS: Christ has universal sovereignty. This expresses His sovereign triumph over all foes and His absolute rule in His soon to be established Kingdom.

There are approximately ninety-seven names throughout the Bible that the personage that we know as Jesus is used. The name He was called at the time had to do with the circumstance at hand. Here He is coming to the earth to take over as Supreme Ruler, so He is called by the name "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS".

Everything written here and more is the Truth. This is what I believe. And though it is true that not everyone believes as I do, it is also true that my beliefs do not require them to do so.

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection then?

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes.

The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the
entrance.

She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the
tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple ran faster than Peter and got there first. He stopped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.

Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen
wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head
was folded up and lying to the side.

Was that important? Absolutely!

Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day.

The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every
Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just
out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the
servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished.

Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.

The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'.

But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because...........

The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!'

Jesus spoke metaphorically before he spoke plainly many times so that later we could understand his meaning more clearly. His actions all held deeper meaning for us all as well.
After he rose again, just that simple act of folding the cloth and not the grave clothes had greater significance. He WILL return, and all that is foretold in the book of Revelation will come to pass.

Do we have free will? Absolutely. But with that free will comes the choice of whom you will follow as you can only serve one master. The end days will come and those who have chosen to follow the king of all lies, the serpant, the Devil will carry the mark of the beast rather than the seal of our Lord. He who is King of Kings and Lord or Lords shall triumph over him.
Though honestly, no one really knows when exactly the end days will come to pass and so to dwell on such things rather than to fulfill the plan which God has for each of you is an act of futility and quite fruitless to say the least. Rather, I'd implore you to live each day to its fullest doing as the Holy Spirit guides you and to model your life and actions after Jesus Christ!

"15 As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. 16 The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit." Acts 8:15-17

Praise the Lord! Welcome to the family brother. May you be filled with the Holy Sprit. Let it dwell within you, guide you, and comfort you always. And may you know much love, joy, and peace in your life through the Lord Jesus.

OK, I need to know when Edward comes back. I just started New Moon, and balled when he left. Now I am stuck reading all about Bella's mopping. Please I do not want to know what happens just need to know when he comes back. A goal that I can work towards so it does not seem to so boring.

Edward does come back towards the end of New Moon. I'd say roughly the last 1/4th of the book has Edward's involvement of sorts. So there's your goal, love! And NM WAS sooo depressing when Edward left. I honestly have read all 4 of the books several times, but only fully read NM once from beginnng to end. The other times I read it (since I already knew what happened) I just read the first part, skim bits of the middle, and pick back up reading towards the end. lol
Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are by far my favorites of the series. They're positively riviting non-stop! biggrin

I just gotten into the Twilight craze, and must say that I am in love! I just cannot get enough of it. I saw the movie for the first time Last Tuesday and went out and bought it on Friday with the first two books. I am already half way through the first book, and am just in awe of it. I cannot seem to get enough. I put the book down and it leaves me wanting it more. But I cannot just sit here reading unfortunately life calls.

I saw the movie before reading the books. Which I am glad that I did. As I am reading the books I can not hear the characters voices and almost see there expressions. The movie does leave out a lot but it just makes you appreciate the book that much more.

I heard that New Moon was due in theaters in November around the same time that Twilight came out. I don't know. I do know that I will be right there at the first viewing waiting in line to see it.

Thank you Stephanie Myere for the new addiction (like I don't have enough alreadygrumble laugh).

Looks like a future inductie of "Twilighters Annonymous" lol laugh
...It's okay, embrace the addiction that is Twilight!

As far as New Moon goes...plan to get advance tickets, and possibly camp out in line! I'll be right along there with you at the first viewing though! drinker
