AI being as useful as spellcheck or GPS? You must have a lot better version of those than I have seen here. Earlier I mistyped language and it wanted to replace it with luggage?...lol Spell check does not catch the their-there-they're difference so it leaves a lot to be desired. It is only as good as the programming and you do not know for sure what they are putting in there or trying to leave out. GPS is even worse, telling you to go straight when you come to a T in the road...lol GPS??? never used it.. I was in a friends car once that had the GPS on.. I told the driver to turn left, cuz I knew exactly where we were going.. the danged GPS said to turn right.. dead end road, then we approaded another stop, GPS said to turn right again.. no right only river.. as for spellcheck? if I question a word I'm using I type the word into my browser.. it gives me the correct spelling AND it's definition.. ahhh yes.. most of you geeks use yer phones.. I however use a desktop so I don't get those goofy "spellcheck" errors unless I'm texting my kids.. luckily I know how ta spell.. fer the most part

I turn off the AI assistant when writing my emails.. I got it.. thanks.. I don't need some 'robot' telling me what I'd like to say.. I don't use any form of AI either, no chat boxes, nada.. yes.. when I do a search the AI assist pops up.. I ignore it.. or click the X to remove it whenever possible.. I have a mind thank you very much AND I know how to use it.. if it's TOO easy.. it's not worth any effort at all and with the youth today already being lazy (for the most part) thinking now will become a thing of the past.. the brain muscle will die out and we'll all become robotic thinkers.. NO THANK YOU! Imagine.. the average IQ is between 85-100.. with AI.. that average will no doubt drop drastically.. scary to think the world will become stupider than it currently is.. I found my 1/2 sister (I was adopted) and I text with her AND her dad text's with me cuz he's deaf.. I did the Ancestry DNA during COVID and found out that my father (who I never met) had 5 other kids with different moms. I am the youngest of that bunch...so far...lol But we use the facebook to keep in touch.
I found out that my mom was 15 when I was conceived and my dad was 20.. he had 5 other kids too.. I'm the oldest lol but that's

I seem to avoid many of these peeps by limiting those that can contact me I've only had 1 scammer email me in 1.5 mths...
Prolly figure they ain't gonna get much out of a jailbird. I have absolutely NO problems with peeps believin that.. it's true but still

AI and chat-bots are getting to where they are capable of communicating significantly better than many of the scammers. They can make you believe you are actually chatting with an intelligent, worthwhile person. Thus it is or will be a scammer tool. scary isn't it.. |

I'm with you GRB.. I am terrified of where AI can take us.. which can be to the brink of extinction IF we let it.. I have never used it for ANY reason in communications.. and totally agree with you where real life skills are being lost.. if you go ANYwhere.. look around you.. everyone pretty much has their eyes glued to the mobile phones.. alreay dis-engaging with the world around them.. which is sad.. now.. with AI as your "best friend" OMG who needs REAL people any longer.. everyone will just clam up and crawl into their shells and disappear from life.. period! A lot of people can not understand my phone, it looks like a smart phone but all it does is make calls. Not internet and even the texting is blocked...lol I turn off or delete most of the stuff that came on the phone because I am not going to use it. Now my battery will last over a week without needing a charge though...lol
I remember you mentioning that in another thread.. I use mine only for calls when absolutely necessary.. usually when I'm out and about and my kids call me.. and the only ones that text me are my kids.. oh yeah.. I do not like AI and relying on it to communicate with others is even worse. People are losing their real life communication skills to be popular on the internet. You never know what that program is really doing and it might start going in a direction that you do not agree with...but it looks like you saying it. I am not sure if the profiles on here are AI or just scammers, but they do learn. They will bring up stuff that you told to a different profile so be care of what information you give out. I was just talking to one about listening to Frank Zappa, that profile went away and then a few days later a new profile popped up and started talking about how they were listening to Zappa...lol I'm with you GRB.. "I'm good.. is that it?" straight to the point.. they usually come back with "do you have a number I can text? we can get on google chat (or whatever)" my reply? "we're here now.. it's free.. we don't have to go somewhere else so, it's here or nowhere" last guy said "then good luck with all the dishonest people here" my reply? " like YOU??" blocked! chu bye

I believe a number of Mingle members are actually chat-bots. I got involved in a conversation in January that went very well with a "lady" who contacted me. Went on for several months. Seemed like a stable, intelligent woman with a good skill set. She may have been real but she ghosted me as soon as the conversation went to actual meeting. Recently got involved with another a few weeks ago. Again seems like an intelligent woman with her life together. All seemed good until her history didn't seem to match up right and I couldn't find any public internet history. I now suspect she may also be a chat-bot. Time will probably answer that question. I think it is going to be a common thing on dating and social media sites including video clips and video chats. The best advice: don't get emotionally hooked or share sensitive information until you have actually met IRL!!!! It is becoming more important for early, physical meeting. AI is making a new world of relationships. Enjoy the fun but protect yourself! the first one sounds a lot like a scammer.. her profile probably said she was close by but in reality.. 1/2 way around the world.. the 2nd one may well be real.. I can attest to the fact that I have ZERO internet presence other than here.. no FB, nothing.. when you google my real name.. you'll come up with millions of pages of anOTHER person who just happens to be famous
this is all supposition of course.. but ya never know huh.. good luck with those you do chat with tho.. as for getting emotionally hooked OR sharing personal information? not a chance.. I've worked with cyber security companies and they taught me enough to be wary..
