No, yeah. If it's ended, some kids in Northern states will be going to school in the dark, Mortman: How could it be! If on a given day, month and place, at 7 am Standard time, it's still dark, then it will be even darker if DST is in use instead.

I did here from someone that a couple who lived near them here in the UK. Where he was English and his attractive young wife was South East Asian. He used to lock her in when he went to work, and they only ever saw her outside when she was with him. Other neighbours had noticed the same thing, and apparently he had said his wife felt more secure when at home with the doors locked, and only safe with him when they went out. Makes you wonder though if he was frightened she would run off, and he must have spun his wife some yarn of life in the UK. I think what you heard from that someone is actually spinning a yarn par excellence.

On another note, the Syrian military not engaging the rebels before Assad flight, would suggest 1/ a weak military 2/ no loyalty to Assad 3/ paid off. As soon as they saw no Russian fighter bombers taking part, they probably realised the game was up for Assad, and fled. Reasons for Assad's army collapse: demoralised underpaid conscripts, poor morale and dependence on absent allies (Hizballah, Iran and Russia).
