I totally agree with Fetts.

For goodness sake, I know you're hurt hon, but stereotyping is a dangerous place to be. In fact the dictionary defines stereotyping as ignorance.

I know tons of great guys and even tho I've been burned a time or two I KNOW men rock (for the most part  ) ..

Sounds like your 'friend' wasn't much of a friend either if she took your guy up on dating .. that's a female code of ethics your 'friend' broke .. so I'd put as much on this friend of yours as the loser guy who did what he did.

Thank you! flowerforyou

Lex, I think you are on to something. Nobody takes thing at face value anymore. I would like to know what some of these ladies are looking for with out the "try to figure out what I'm saying game" . Why does that need to be the way it is done. Not all are that way but it happens a lot.

Well, it's pretty much an epidemic.

Most people are so afraid of being perceived as "shallow" that they refuse to say anything other than the standard boilerplate PC drivel about "looks don't matter" and "what's important is on the inside" and "I just want someone decent."

But if any of that was actually true, we would be having matches all over the place here.

The reason we don't is because the people making these claims are being totally disingenuous. They really DON'T want someone without the looks, money, status, whatever, but it just isn't acceptable to say that -- so they pretend that they adhere to the PC agenda, but they don't talk to anybody except the ones who appeal to the covert "shallow" side of them.

It's really just a failure on the part of some to be honest -- with themselves and with others.

I found the woman of my dreams, and all I had on my profile was "I'm just taking a look around, seeing what it's all about"

Dude, have patience... and never EVER start a thread titled "desparately seeking". Just be yourself, have fun, and you will find her or she will find you. It worked for me, and if I can pull it off, anyone can. Trust me on that one.

you guys give me hope! I always believed long distance could work! but after my relationship ended I figured I was just being too much of a romantic! Im so happy to here ppl who think like me

You have to be willing to make it work. You have to be willing to compromise. And to be honest, being a few miles apart leaves no choice but to take the time to get to know each other, learn about each other, and all that. After our first chat until the wee hours of the morning, we knew, but we also discussed the distance thing and how to make it work. I just spent the afternoon today with an atlas and Mapquest and an ink pen trying to figure how I'm going to get there. LOL

Communication is a big factor in making it work.

Yes, a very happy ending. I didn't even think I'd get a reply, and she turned out to be "the one". And miles means nothing if it's the real thing.

It's out there, as long as you don't give up.

Thank you! Thank you! for saying the miles don't have to be an issue, if ya want it, you'll make it work.

No amount of miles should stand in the way of love.

I drive race cars... a 12 hour drive in a regular car I can do standing on my head. LOL

After several tries on several sites as well as the real world, I finally found the one for me when I really wasn't even looking. I almost didn't even send that first message because I thought there was no way in hell she would give me the time of day. I'm damn glad I did now. smitten

If I can find it, trust me it's out there for everyone.

Ya know, I was wondering about this too...if we don't write to folks because we think we already know they won't give us the time of day or are out of our league?

I had a couple emails completely ignored. But the way I look at it, if they are the type of person to just pass judgement and turn their nose up without even knonwing me, they aren't the type of person I'd be looking for anyway. But I didn't give up, and now I am one happy camper. smitten

Yeah...a happy ending! Good for you!! flowerforyou

I don't think all men are pigs nor will all men do what he did.. It's not fair to generalize/stereotype over a few bad eggs.. Maybe you need to reflect on the type of men your you're picking and see if there's a pattern and then break it....

Good luck!

Thank you.

If a chicken and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half, how long would it take for a monkey with a wooden leg to kick the seeds out of a pickle?

About as long as it would take for a woodpecker with a wooden beak to shingle a chithouse roof with a potato peeler.

So there. noway
rofl Make's sense to me!

LOL it's simple logic bigsmile
