i need advice

Well, if you are a believer that things happen for a reason, then don't beat yourself up over things. You said that every relationship you've had has not worked out, and are perhaps a bit down on yourself for it. The other way of looking at it is that perhaps none of those ladies were the right fit for you. There might be someone out there just waiting to connect, but you wouldn't notice if you were otherwise engaged in a relationship.
There have been some well thought out answers to your query. Reflect on those relevant ones. |

I hate apologizing for my gender, but I am not surprised. The last poster's advice was good. Just block the nasty stuff, so they cant message you again, refine your search using advanced search to weed out those not in your area, out of your age range or relationship status, and move on.

Sadly, a 2 party only system restricts choice to the point where both parties are just variations of one another. Even worse, money is the driving force behind it. That, and anwillingness on behalf of most people to think outside the political box and embrace the concept of a third and, heaven forbid, a fourth choice.

What always amazes me is how when one party/person is in charge (current situation in the US), the fear mongers rail against this, crying out that they are losing their rights and freedoms. And yet, 10 years previous, when their "rights and freedoms" were being eroded and diminished by an ever expanding, multi-agency carte blanche restriction in the name of national security, they were just fine with it, as their poster boy was running the country.
Governments, no matter where, and no matter what level, are all about exerting a level of control over the population. That's what they do, party affiliations aside, although some are more intrusive under the guise of "protecting you". |

RIP Harold Ramis, dead at 69
|

Although a lot of his work was on the other side of the camera, he has delivered some memorable performances in front of it. Not everyone can deliver a deadpan, straight-faced line that cracks you up. Harold was certainly one, without question. He will be missed.

Everyone reasonable tries to be unbiased and open minded, but it is hard sometimes not to be critical. Some wish to speak their mind openly, but get bullied into silence. Happens everywhere, online or real world. The key is to stick to your beliefs and dont let others discourage you from speaking your mind.

Looking for strictly email pen pal type relationship with mature lady. A lot of the local profiles say friendship, but leading to relationship or dating. Just want a lady friend.

Having been in a relationship years ago (married, though) where I had to be the stronger of the two on an increasing basis, I can tell you that it slowly and inorexably drains you. Most people dont want to be alone, but if you are serious about wanting to start anew, a clean break and a fresh perspective would be my choice. If you believe that your relationship has deteriorated beyond recovery, I am unsure why you would want to hang onto it. But, I dont know the exact specifics, and therefore can only make a general comment. Best of luck, regardless of your choice.

Reading that basically all men want in a relationship is support, loyalty and sex. And they can do without sex occasionally, i.e. if the wife is preggers or having her period etc. But if it happens too often or with no 'valid' reason, the man will get sex elsewhere. No matter how much he might love his wife, no matter how much support and loyalty he gets from his wife, he will get it elsewhere. Because he needs it. Men that say they don't, lie. Mind you, HIS words, not mine, haha. (I must admit I cannot believe some of the things this Steve Harvey writes, hence the question) Now the big question: Do you men agree? Will you indeed stray if she's holding out on you for whatever reason (which can also be a so called valid reason)? A morally-bankrupt man may act in the way described in the OP, but not all men are like that. Rather judgmental, dont you think? Every individual is different, with unique circumstances. There is no one truly qualified to judge someone else's "morality" except that individual. Is cheating on your partner a rather heinous act? I think it is, but I will not judge the alleged lack of morality. Curious as to where you get your guidance or insight on this. |

Relatively new here. Does anyone know if there has been any word about optimizing this site for use with tablets/smartphones? Some of the features, like IM, dont seem to function properly or at all. I tried to look through some of the thread titles to no avail, but may have missed it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Also, if there is a Mod around, please delete my duplicate topic post titled "Does anyone know" under the Tech Board listings.

is reality a singular truth?
|

Truth is a "point of view", simply put. Beauty is in the eye...Non-tangible things like truth, beauty, right or wrong, are moral creations derived from personal experience. truth can be both... the others are moral creations only... if a tornado is heading towards you, thats a truth, there is a tornado... saying obama is a fool is only the truth for those who believe it... I tend to disagree, but only in the wording. If you replace the word "truth" with the word "fact" then I would agree. Truth isnt specific enough, for one can have a personal truth that others may not necessarily see. |

Perhaps we should look at this in a slightly different way. His relationship with his wife might be more platonic than lover. Perhaps, just perhaps, she may have the same thing on the side, a lover who makes her feel the way he makes you feel. A marriage of convenience. But the key word is convenience. Why on earth would he change his situation when he has the best of both worlds? I dont know how long he has been promising to leave his wife, but if it is more than 6 months, he is probably leading you on. If you want proof, tell him it is either her or you. Just be prepared for the stark reality in his answer.

Anyone who harbors a dislike for someone based purely on your shade probably isnt worth having to begin with. I would agree with those who say that Utah, and perhaps SLC, are a bit more atypical than other states and major metro areas. In this case, dont believe for a moment that there is something wrong with you. Perhaps it is simply that there are not enough suitable guys (that you have met, anyway) that are not perceptive enough to appreciate you for who you are. =)

AP reports a REAL racist act
|

No, the people who were racist to begin with have not changed. But they have become a lot more vocal, particularly in the last 2 years. A myopic view? Well, perhaps by your definition. However, I participate or read many discussion forums, and have done so for many years. It is disturbing to read some of the more recent postings, recent referring to the last couple of years. I also have a different perspective as I do not live in the US. While most media outlets report many of the same stories, some of these are sanitized better than others.
It is most interesting that the context of racism is automatically assumed to be white versus black. This is simply NOT the case. While the posted story is an example of that very thing, there is increasing racism directed towards Hispanic and non-Christian Americans than ever before. A little effort with online searches will yield some interesting results. |

Overt acts of racism are relatively rare, yes. But covert, thinly veiled racism has been on the rise in the last few years, because the frightened white right is increasingly uncomfortable with a person of color in the White House. They believed, perhaps, that he was a 1 term President, a fluke, a mistake that would be corrected in 2012. When their golden child fell far short of expectations at election time, social media was abuzz with overt racism, and it has continued, albeit with less full blown media exposure, since. And because of predictions that whites will become the minority sooner rather than later, as compared with all the other visible minorities, they have ramped up both the rhetoric and the hatred. I can only wonder about the explosion of misogynistic hatred when Hillary gets elected.

do aliens really exist?

Unfortunately, no proof exists at the present time. However, given the vast number of stars in a given galaxy (250 million in the Milky Way by rough estimates, perhaps more), and the parameters set out in the Drake equation, I think it highly likely there is at least rudimentary life on some scale somewhere else. But, until we receive a message, or a visitor, no one can say for certain.
