Three examples of pushback against the ruling class.

America's ruling class has been experiencing more pushback than usual lately. It just might be a harbinger of things to come.

First, in response to widespread protests last week, the Department of Homeland Security canceled plans to build a nationwide license plate database. Many local police departments already use license-plate readers that track every car as it passes traffic signals or pole-mounted cameras. Specially equipped police cars even track cars parked on the street or even in driveways.

An organization of self governing people are rising up against government?
It's non-sequiteur because the only way that statement makes any sense is it's about disassociation of personal issues and "down with the establishment" is the denial to start acting responsibly so you don't have guilt.

Everything is government you twats. You pet the dog and give him treats when he practises being house-trained? That's government.
You control yourself when a hot chick walks by and don't rape/murder her in a fit of sexual frustration? That's government.

It's like talking to retarded people.

I can see the conditioning is working very well, the dumbing down of the people down under has been successful. There are no free men anywhere. And they think others are the twits, so indoctrinated, so uneducated.

"It is indeed difficult to imagine how men who have entirely renounced the habit of managing their own affairs could be successful in choosing those who ought to lead them. It is impossible to believe that a liberal, energetic, and wise government can ever emerge from the ballots of a nation of servants."
- Alexis de Tocqueville

Wow...... is there enough individual thought process left in that gray matter to tie your shoes by yourself?

What always amazes me is how when one party/person is in charge (current situation in the US), the fear mongers rail against this, crying out that they are losing their rights and freedoms. And yet, 10 years previous, when their "rights and freedoms" were being eroded and diminished by an ever expanding, multi-agency carte blanche restriction in the name of national security, they were just fine with it, as their poster boy was running the country.

Governments, no matter where, and no matter what level, are all about exerting a level of control over the population. That's what they do, party affiliations aside, although some are more intrusive under the guise of "protecting you".

actually during most of GWB's presidency the Democrats held both Houses!
Only lost Congress for the last two years of GWB's terms!
They could have over-ruled anything if they wanted to,except they knew how handy it would come for them!
Seeing the results now!
Didn't hear too many Objections, for obvious reasons!
Or have you seen the Incumbent in the WH make good on his Campaign-promise about getting rid of the Patriot-Act?
If anything,he has tightened it's rule!

And those of us who rail against a corrupt 2 party system, and always have, where do we fit in?

Oh yeah...... we're the CTers and fringe outcasts who haven't got a clue so we aren't allowed to play in the political game of tomato vs tamato

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin, 18th century.

"It is above all in the present democratic age that the true friends of liberty and human grandeur must remain constantly vigilant and ready to prevent the social power from lightly sacrificing the particular rights of a few individuals to the general execution of its designs. In such times there is no citizen so obscure that it is not very dangerous to allow him to be oppressed, and there are no individual rights so unimportant that they can be sacrificed to arbitrariness with impunity.
- Alexis de Tocqueville, 1835.

Our current state of affairs isn't something that happened 10 years ago, it has been a continuous process since the beginning. If you would care to read the constitution, the first major insurrection occurred on March 7, 1794.

But to really screw things up, you need dumbocrats in the executive office. Starting with Wilson, the Federal Reserve and then WWI, had to start the debt train rolling.

And then we had good ole FDR, the new deal, socialism at it's grandest. I mean the entitlement crowd liked him so much he got to "rule" for twelve years.

Now do not take this as defending the Republicans as they are just as guilty in fact more so where destroying liberties as GW so profoundly proved.

But why not really place blame where blame belongs, right in the lap of the people that have let it all happen, in the name of being secure, see Ben Franklin quote.

Ah, but what will be interesting is the future. What is in store? Will Obumbo declare himself dictator? Or will that evil bitty put the cap on things, after all she proved in Benghazi that she has what it takes.

Or will it come to be an open rebellion such as Kiev? After all in accordance with some data I have seen recently, when food reaches 40% of the masses disposable income, they rise up. So with our current trend of rising food prices and dropping earnings, are we that far off?

But I for one do not want to play in their little political game. I have a much more important function, holding those that do accountable for their actions.

As my personal motto goes: Let the qualified electors elect them and let the electors correct them.

Oh how beneficial it is to learn the constitution and law. Then the courts may be used to restore the values of the founders.

Also just as an aside, there is a fourth branch of government, much hidden from the people but so well understood by the founders, the citizens grand jury. A real grand jury construed by the people for the people.

I think the video disagrees with you. You either take the toll road or take the long way around. And that toll road used to be free and was paid for by tax dollars.

But this is not just Texas, here in Virginia previously free tunnels under the bay from city to city have been turned into tolls along the same lines. But the important part of the story is the private companies involved in the tolls.

Our state and local governments selling public roads paid for by tax dollars to private corporations to operate as toll roads with of course kickbacks to the government.

Oh and if you object to paying the toll, they have tremendous fees and will take your registration. Now what happens if you don't have a registration? Of course it is assumed that without registration you have restored your ownership and don't have a title either, just a MCO or restored MCO, the ultimate title.

Sadly, a 2 party only system restricts choice to the point where both parties are just variations of one another. Even worse, money is the driving force behind it. That, and anwillingness on behalf of most people to think outside the political box and embrace the concept of a third and, heaven forbid, a fourth choice.

Sir, this has nothing to do with you personally nor is it just limited to Texas, it just so happened that the people that make the video live in Austin.

But if you watch the whole video, you will see it is a nationwide phenomena. It is but the latest scheme of our government to eat their cake and have it too.

Now as the basis for this phenomena is the gasoline tax, a tax to pay for the highways. A tax that by the way has not kept up, especially when the government uses it in an irresponsible manner.

But if you stop to examine the tax, their are two proponents, federal and state. The federal monies are used as bribes to the state to overrule state sovereignty so the feds can have control.

Now from a state standpoint, that money has been enjoyed for many things but to maintain the highways, after all why save for a rainy day when you can spend it while the sun shines.

Next comes the prospect of much more fuel efficient cars and the resultant reduction in revenue. Now add to that the proliferation of electric cars that pay no tax whatsoever and bingo, how to get funds.

So the dilemma is how to raise additional funds for the failing transportation infrastructure. After all you can't raise gas taxes or the corporations will scream that it is their domain to extract all that profit so the next best thing is to empower other corporations to extract tolls and repair the highways with a little bribe to the general fund so the politicians can spend on other things they have no business doing..

God, isn't this a great country and we all sit in our armchairs, watching the latest escapades of the Kardashians as we cry in our beers over the unfairness of the tolls.

i'm in Austin all the time, was there last week... tollroads are not an issue...

with all the problems going on here in the US, and the stupid tollroads get your goat?... that 35 cents really bothering you?

so you pay a dollar to drive 10 miles... if your really look at what they are doing, the tollroads are always on the outskirts of the cities, so the people that live 20+ miles away are the only people that "have" to use them...

personally, i think your making a bigger deal of this than it's worth...
