I have no idea how long I will be around, but I do know I'd like to retire here like my parents did. I love the small-town + close enough to Santa Barbara culture living.

I just moved back to CA and into my parent's house. Pops had a few small strokes so I am going to try to get a few things done and earn my keep a little while I dig for some kind of work in LA. In the mean-time I am going to enjoy some of Mom's home cooked meals.

It's going to be tough what with the old crotchety man in the house . . . I'm talking about me, of course.

I am back in CA in remote Buellton north of Santa Barbara. My folks retired there and I am helping out while looking for the next contract or position.

I have had success meeting cool people and even going on a few nice dates on this site while in Detroit & Dallas. I would like to make some friends in the area since I would also like to retire here someday. It's remote enough to be relaxed but close enough to the Santa Barbara cultural events to be really attractive.

Part of my adventure was that I wanted to stay at the rest stop at Meteor Crater between Winslow & Flagstaff, AZ so I could drive down the mountain in the morning and see my birthplace before getting to my Aunt's house near Sedona.

I saw deer and an antelope buck and stopped to take this pic of the morning sky . . .



It was definitely worth it.

I had to replace a second tire . . . the steel belt was showing. I had purchased those cheap tires so that they would get me through inspection in May. They managed to last driving from Dallas to NY and back and then to CA. I guess I can't complain . . . but I still hate my Ford F*ckus.

I opted for a Double-Double at In-N-Out Burger instead of a fish taco. Whoo hoo!!! I saw the ocean, but it was overcast. I made it to Buellton and it is sunny.

It looks like my brother got the wireless network working here. Yeah!!

Driving down from Sedona towards LA today. Gonna stay with my older brother, the cop tonight. Only about 8 hours of the most boring desert in the US.

My aunt did not have wireless so I have not uploaded any pics yet.

Several job opps have popped up this week . . . I'll keep applying in Dallas and see what happens.

I can't wait to see the ocean again. Yeah!! Fish Tacos here we come. Maybe it's still warm enough to do a bikini inventory on the beach.

Hey, Folks,

The problems were not really problems and I just took them in stride. One good side effect of all of the challenges that I have faced in the past few years is that I roll with the punches a little better than I used to.

Sadly, the opp. in Austin was filled lickety-split. Oh well, at least another head-hunter has my resume at the front of their rolodex.

I am very grateful that I had the opportunities to meet with you folks in-person, and you know that I will return to see my kids.

I'll keep you posted. Tomorrow, off to CA.

It's been an adventure so far . . .

. . . ran into nasty fog heading up the 287 to Amarillo . . . thank God for rest stops.

Tuesday morning I had a tire throw its tread on my right rear and smack my tail light out. It happened 20 miles west of Amarillo . . . there some kind of truck accident on the other side of the freeway so I pulled over across from fire men and police . . . who all just looked at me while I re-packed my car and changed the spare. I can't believe I found room for the blown tire in my over-stuffed trunk.

So, by noon I was off again.

I stopped at the rest stop near Meteor Crater that night so that I could drive by Flagstaff (where I was born) during sun up. I saw deer and an antelope buck coming down the mountain.

So, I get here and there's an e-mail from a recruiter asking if I want to do a two-week job in Austin. Go figure!! I'll take it if I can get it and turn my butt around.

Went to Jerome, AZ yesterday afternoon. If you ever get a chance visit and watch the sunlight play over Sedona.

I try to be friendly to all, I befriend, but I have very few true friends . . . and yes, I have met one or two of those on-line.
